We're playing a joke on some friends.

Our child borrowed their child's Matchbox car. We couldn't find it anywhere. Our friend informed us that this Matchbox car was something they had since 1971. The father of these children kept it for all of these years and it was one of his favorite toys as a child.

Boy, did we feel terrible!

As time has passed, it has become a joke between us--that we've lost a toy heirloom that this guy babied for more than three decades. I turned the house upside down, looking for it.

Just last week, we found it! It was under my child's car seat. We decided to put it up on Ebay, and have another friend say, "Hey...is this the car that the Smith's borrowed from you that was never returned?"

We hope they will think it's funny too.

We're insane, what can we say.

2. LOL! Yeah! Let's getting a bidding war started! If you bid on it...
...of course I wouldn't make ya pay.

If you bid on it and won, I would give you positive feedback.

Anyone else care to bid on this luxurious item? :)

That is just very funny to me. I love it. You guys rock. I'm tempted to set up an e-bay account and bid on it.

4. The funniest part is
the "discount available" on the sixty cent shipping charge. :)

6. Heck yeah...
...we have to give a discount on the shipping, to the bidder who spends $25k for a Matchbox car, don't we?

This has to be the only auction where someone can get mink-lined bubble wrap for a mere 60 cents.

:)

8. I am getting some hilarious questions on this auction...
...this is fun.

Also...we had a friend call the Matchbox car owner and say, "Ohmygosh, I think this is your toy matchbox car. Look at this url to the Ebay auction! We think the Smiths are selling your toy!"

The Matchbox owners totally bought it and they were duped. They thought we put their toy up on Ebay. For a few minutes, they were baffled and assuming that we were complete sociopaths.

So, it's been fun.

10. It's pretty funny---how many people have this toy car!
This Matchbox was made in 1971, and I can't believe how many people have emailed me to tell
me that they have the same car!

You guy took much better care of your toys than I did, when I was a kid. :)

I still wish I had my Creepy Crawler machine...that thing made great snakes and butterflies! :)
