6. I honestly don't remember. Either that or Bronski Beat.
I was always and still am a musical ignoramus. But I loved what I loved (which was what my friends exposed me to).

And now I've given myself a screamin' ear worm.

Ahhh, baby! My heart is full of love and desire for you
So come on down and do what you got to do
You started this fire down in my soul
Now can't you see it's burning out of control
So come on, satisfy the need in me
'Cause only your good lovin' can set me free

9. When I think of Depeche Mode
I always think of "Just Can't Get Enough." For some reason unknown to me, whenever this song was played in the clubs I went to people would start stomping and stomping and stomping their feet as they danced. It was raucously loud.

13. Talk to anyone younger than 30...
The Safety Dance is deader than Dillenger.

Although, I guess you could draw a distinction here, though, becuase it technically wasn't forgotten, it was never known in the first place.

37. They had a Safety Dance reference on Scrubs this season
To wit, Turk and Carla were discussing kids, and how they would behave as parents. Carla makes up a hypothetical situation, something like, "Yeah, well what if your son loves dance class, and all his friends want him to play football, what then? What would you tell him?"

Turk says, speaking: "I would tell him that he can dance if he wants to. (Pause) He can leave his friends behind...(now singing) cuz his friends don't dance and if they don't dance well they're no friends of mine." He walks away echoing S-S-S-S A-A-A-A...

The actor went into it so seamlessly from the dialogue that my wife and I both spit out our drinks at once. I was laughing for five minutes straight.

All these other songs are on every friggin 80's compilation there is.

Evberyone also seems to have forgotten about the Jungle Brothers "Girl I'll House You" and that whole stretch of club music from Noel ("Silent morning/ I wake up and you're not by my side/etc...). That shit is well and truly forgotten, but was pretty good for hooking up at the clubs.

47. " Rock me amadeus" By Falco
Rock Me Amadeus - Falco
He was the first punk ever to set foot on this earth.
He was a genius from the day of his birth.
He could play the piano like a ring and a bell
And ev'rybody screamed:
Come on, rock me Amadeus.

He was a superstar, he was dynamite and whatever he did (it)
Seemed to be alright.
And he drank (and) he cursed and he fooled around
But when the women would shout:
Rock me Amadeus,
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus,
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus,
Oh oh oh Amadeus.

With a bottle of wine in one hand and a woman in the other
'Cause he was a ladies man
He never stopped to worry what the next day would bring
Because the girls would sing:
Rock me Amadeus,
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus,
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus,
Oh oh oh Amadeus.

His mind was on rock and roll and having fun
Because he lived so fast he had to die so young.
But he made his mark in history.
Still ev'rybody says:
Rock me Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus,
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus,
Oh oh oh Amadeus.

75. I've been working on my 80's collection
I made these 80's compliation CDs for a big joint 40th birthday party for all my high school girlfriends. I spoent weeks downloading about 500 songs, and I only got up to 1985! My 80's collection is up to about 900 songs now. I put a lot of new wave, punk and rock in the selection, but here are the best long-lost dance songs, IMHO:

Brick House- Commodores
Boogie Wonderland and Let's Groove- EW&F
Don't Stop Til You Get Enough- Michael Jackson (when he was still black)
Train in Vain - The Clash (well I like to dance to the Clash)
This Beat Goes On/ Switchin to Glide - The Kings
Working My Way Back To You- The Spinners
Planet Claire - B-52's ( I also like to danc eot the B-52's)
Let It Whip- Dazz Band
Upside Down - Diana Ross
Burn Rubber - The Gap Band
We Got the Beat - Go-Go's
Let's Dance- David Bowie
Twilight Zone- Golden Earring
Celebration- Kool & the Gang
