I need some DU feedback
I'm on a quest for all DUers to do a massive voter registration in the next several months. Both in hopes of registering more Democrats AND to redirect all this excess energy currently going into candidate bashing and into something productive.

Skinner gave me the go-ahead to post a Weekly thread asking DUers if and/or how many Democrats they registered during the past week. My quesion is, what forum should I post this in?

GD is seen by the most people but the thread will most likely die quickly. Activism is read by too few people though it would probably be more appropriate there. The Meeting Room has the same problem plus a lot of people are turned off by the overabundance of astrology threads and tend to stay away for that reason.

Opinions?

1. How about Politics and Campaigns?
That seems like a good place, and you can always kick it.

3. I thought about that
and haven't rejected it and should have included it in my original thread. My only hesitancy there is due to the vitriol that is endemic there, a lot of people stay out. But you're right, that may be the best choice.

2. or activism?
Maybe they could create a separate forum specifically for voter registration efforts.

4. Somehow, I manage to see beyond the candidate bashing at DU
The P&C forum is kind of a waste since summer, but I find plenty to follow in E&E and Activism. I put a half a dozen of the worst bashers on ignore months ago, and it has raised the content quality of all of the forum views for me.

Further, the candidate bashing here does not "hurt" the candidates. They cannot be "hurt" by ASCII text or electrons. I could see that the evil establishment may be combing DU for nasty issues to use against our Democratic nominee, but they are going to find that material anyway.

My 2 cents. I did not think it was worth starting another thread. Per your question, put it in P&C because that is where voting issues belong.

5. My state (and some others) does not require a voter to
register by party affiliation.

We can help to register voters. And we can try to convince them to vote for Democratic candidates and causes. But we cannot necessarily register a voter as a Democrat.

Better still, who will help get voters to the polls on election day?

6. I started a thread in GD
yesterday about all this and did mention that we needed to ensure Democratic voters get to the polls. For what it's worth, I thought I'd start emphasizing this closer to the election, especially the general election.

7. GD seems like the right place...
Can you get Skinner to 'pin' it there for a couple of hours every week?
