The Evil Empire gets more evil (GO YANKS!!!!!!!)
TO combat the small money, small market, underdog Boston Red Sox acquisition of Curt Schilling the Yankees have just re-upped their rotation with a major trade.

"The New York Yankees have begun the rebuilding of their starting rotation after the Montreal Expos agreed Thursday to trade right-hander Javier Vazquez, ESPN.com's Jayson Stark reports.

The Yankees will send first baseman Nick Johnson, outfielder Juan Rivera and left-handed reliever Randy Choate to Montreal, Stark reports."

3. Lofton? WTF!
Why did they get him? Wait, I think I see the logic: Lofton in center, Bernie in right and Matsui in right. That actually works, because that means they won't get Sheffield (a major bum imo).

9. But Sheffield's a bum
I used to watch him here in LA when he played with the Dodgers. He sucked, to put it simply. Not worth the money. They don't need him. All they need is for Donny Baseball to teach the guys who are there how to hit again.

11. I guess
I tuned out to him after his Dodger years because of his Dodger years...even if he was playing well with the Braves, it'll be hard to duplicate in NY...players always seem to have that problem.

I think the management should be more concerned with bolstering the farm teams rather than aquiring major league talent...it's a recipe for long-term disaster.

12. They aren't giving up the farm team...
Nick Johnson is injury prone and besides his OBP, the rest of his numbers were average.

Vasquez is 27 years old...He'll start for 10 years.

Claussen is the only prospect that is star-bound that we got rid of.

2. sigh
I deny no one the right to root for his or her team. My own team won the 2002 World Series (defeating the Yanks in the first round, BTW.)

That said: There's more than one team in Major League Baseball.

4. OK...
This is why we need salary caps in baseball.

Let's give the little guys (Like my Brewers) a frigging chance, here!

7. Amen!
I have a pal from Wisconsin who laughingly refers to the Brewers as "our minor league team." That ain't right.

8. Im sorry, but Salary Caps WONT help the Brewers...
you can thank Bud Selig and his daughter for that. If there was a salary cap, Selig would still keep his team in the crapper if it meant a profit.

Yanks ink Heredia to two-year deal

NEW YORK -- The Yankees took the first official step in building their 2004 bullpen on Wednesday, re-signing left-hander Felix Heredia to a two-year contract worth $3.5 million. The deal also includes a club option for 2006.
