Woohoo! I gave my fucking notice!
I was offered a job yesterday. The pay is ok (better than what I make now) and I will receive benefits. They have requested that I start Monday (they are opening a group home in the next two weeks and need someone there immediately).

I gave notice today. My boss asked me why I wanted to go to a place that offered benefits. I just laughed and gave her the letter.

3. She's a fundie bitch.
She probably was.

I also stated that I felt uncomfortable w/ the morning prayer. She stated that I did not have to participate. I stated that she should not have it in the first place.

We've clashed before. I was expecting a showdown, as were my coworkers. One of my coworkers stated that she probably decided to back down after looking in my eyes. She knew I meant business and that I was itching for a fight.

9. Sure did.
Morning prayer at 8 am.

Not mandatory but she did treat those who did not participate differently.

for five years. I thought about pulling out some wild descriptions of the night in question but decided to let it die down.

31. We had this inservice around Christmas time about depression.
She felt like sharing the story of how she wanted to stick her head in an oven after her daughter was born. I made a comment about Sylvia Plath. Her response was "Who's that?"

If she were overweight and had her front teeth missing I'd compare her to Marguerite Perrin. I can hear her screeching "Darksided!" right now.

42. She was overrated and pretentious.
But any reference to a woman sticking her head in an oven should automatically have the response of "Being a bit melodramatic, Sylvia?"

46. Brilliant!
I might have to steal that one from you-with your permission, of course.

I love the name Sylvia and it was one of my choices for my daughter. The fact that her father hated that name made it especially appealing. (FWIW-Flannery was another one of my choices).

I decided against Sylvia because I am horrible to people w/ that name and I knew that I would, inadvertently, inflict years of emotional abuse upon my child.

4. That's what I thought.
Why would I want to go somewhere to work in a field that I was experienced in? A place that offers benefits, is constantly expanding and has stated that they will be hiring supervisors for subsequent home from within their organization?

I must be a dumb broad to give up my old job!

No finger involved. If she had really started yelling there would have been a finger involved and I would have refused to work from that moment on.

14. It's not the position that I interviewed for
but it is a position with them w/ the chance of promotion in the future.

And I love that whole bit about a place w/ benefits. Why would I pick that kind of place to work at when I could stay where I'm at, make poverty level wages and not even be able to call in sick if I need to?

Good for you and congratulations.

I would NOT have been that diplomatic. I worked for a Clinton HATER 3 years ago. I was happy one morning to show up and find a Sheriff's notice on the door shutting his big mouth down. Sucked for us but I was relieved not ot have to be listening to his shit any more.

One of the people displaced who apparently arrived before me wrote "Fuck you Tom, die young and impotent" in magic marker across the notice.

Just desserts.

45. I'm quite relieved that I don't have to be there after Sunday.
The person who hired me at my new job made a offhanded comment about Blunt(our governor) that made me jump for joy. Then again, that's what should be expected-if you work in mental health you should have the governor and what he has done.

I knew the laughing would be enough to get her goat. She loves to intimidate-she got in my face one time and pointed her finger at my nose. I laughed at her then and it completely threw her off.

She wanted me to yell and act like an imbecile. I just laughed at her. I know that makes her madder than yelling.
