What Do Kids Know?
One of my grand daughters told me, the other day, that my music was wierd. That is not suprising when you consider that not only am I a person who was raised in a different part of the country from her but also because that raising took place a full half a century earlier as well. No, it is not my grandaugter's thinking that my taste to be weird that perplexs me, its because my wife agrees with her x(

Tom Waits rules

2. Welcome to the club.
I have musical taste that is considered weird by most people I know. My tastes have never really equated with 'the masses'.

I grew tired of the drivel played on most radio stations long ago. Since the internet came along, I use it to find new and unusual music.

I'm a folkie, for the most part, though not a great fan of Tom Waites.
However, I have recordings in just about every genre but rap/hiphop.

Some of my favorites are

Nanci Griffith
Susan Werner
DaVinci's Notebook
Asylum Street Spankers
Hot Club of Cowtown
Michelle Shocked
Asleep at the Wheel
Bob Wills
Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer
Celtic Soul

5. The Spankers
are the best live band I've ever seen. I discovered them at a folk festival a couple of years ago in Johnstown, PA. Fortunately, the rest of my immediate family loves them as much as I do. My children, ages 10 and 12, have been thoroughly corrupted. I had to make them promise not to sing the 'Scrotum Song' at school.
