If you have daughters and also have HBO
please watch the HBO sports special on the US Women's Soccer team. I am NOT a sports person, by any stretch, but I was totally enthralled by that documentary.. It's pretty long, but without commercials, it moves pretty quickly and you will not be disappointed..

It will do the girls a lot of good to see strong, healthy women, with MUSCLES...who run fast, play hard,..who sweat..score goals..and yet are still attractive, well-rounded women with families, kids, careers...the whole package..

1. I don't have HBO
but I am encouraging my youngest daughter to continue her Karate class. She wanted to quit because the class is at school, and she said it ran into her lunch period too often, (my girl loves her food)but she changed her mind when I told her that if she continues, she will be able to defend herself against yucky boys who make her mad when she's older. A delicate way to put it, but also I think she will like being strong. She has the right body type to be strong, so why not?

3. It's great -- I taped it for a colleague's 11-year-old daughter
who plays soccer. She loved it, and the coach wound up showing it to the whole team.

Wonderful role models for girls! Girls who play sports tend to be more confident and make better relationship choices.

4. And the boys who are attracted to them KNOW
that these girls will NOT put up with a lot of nonsense, and could clean their clocks if they wanted to :)..

Out youngest son played club (and varsity) soccer for 17 years, and those "soccer girls" were something else..The coach would make these guys scrimmage with the girls teams, and lots of times the girls kicked their asses..:)
