I got a wicked bad burn at work today.
It hurts whenever I take my hand out of the ice bath. :(

Anyone got a good remedy for burns?

1. Aloe vera
But you might want to keep it in ice for another while.

17. Can you or anyone else go to the store and get some?
The absolute best thing would be to have an aloe vera plant, and break off pieces of the leaves to get the pure aloe out. If you have to go with bottled aloe, keep it in the fridge, as it feels really good going on cold.

I hope you get better fast!

2. That really sucks.
I don't know of anything other than the previously mentioned aloe vera.

6. Yup.
I was cleaning the flattop grill at work, and my hand slipped off the grill brick, right into the pool of grease I was scrapping off... ow.

24. Regular is fine, not so sure about green tea
It's got soothing capabilities, a trick I was taught in Florida after a severe sunburn.

Hope you're doing better. If there's skin hanging off, it's a 2nd degree burn and you should go see a doctor or 24hr clinic at the very least in case of infection.

7. Oh honey...I'm sorry.
:-( Burns suck. If you don't want to keep your hand in water, put some ice cubes in a ziplock bag and keep that on the burn.

9. It must be really bad if it hurts for that long.
I think keeping it iced is the best thing you can do.

Kept my hand in ice water for almost 12 hours and never did get huge blisters or scars. Would let the ice melt down and the water grow tepid, then would start all over again. Oh...and afterward, used triple antibiotic ointment on it...no bandages. Just made sure I kept it VERY clean.

Hope this heals quickly for you with no complications!

Poor you!!!

These bandages will keep your wound wet and control the pain quite well.
It's a multi day use bandage that you put on your burns to prevent them from forming scabs. YOu will need to leave them on for 2 days. Then change them for a few more days if you wounds are still oozing. Make sure you keep them on while your wound is in the oozing stage. Then when they stop your skin will be very pink or red. But it will not have a scab and will heal faster.
They are expensive but your not suppose to change them very often so the most you will use is a box or two. Only 6 or so come in a box.

CVS has it own store brand which I have used which are cheaper. They are called Bandages Multi Day Use.

You will be able to take your hand out of the water with these.
I had to use them last year with a hot wax burn. They are the same technology that doctor's use post laser surgery to heal without scabs.

22. I think you should read more about 2nd degree burns
I recently took a First Aid course and they said use cool, not ice water, for burns.
Here's a site:
http://www.personalmd.com/healthtopics/crs/burn2.htm
(though some of the info is about larger burns)
