OMG! I'm supposed to feel BAD for a giant company!
Here's the deal. My income took a huge dive last fall, and as a result, I fell behind on almost every bill I have. I talk to my creditors about where I'm at and such. So today, I get a call from Capital One Auto, which holds the note on my car. I talked to them LAST week, and made arrangements for when I would make my payment. The woman I talked to said that when I made the payment, to ask for a deferrment on my next payment, just to give myself a little breathing room. Okay.

Tonight, I get yet ANOTHER call from Cap One. I told the guy (who, by the way, was very nice) that I had talked to someone else last week, and what we had talked about. He said, well, we will usually call you every day until the payment is made, even if you already made arrangements. The woman did not tell me that. He says sorry. Then he says, what you really need is a deferrment of one payment, so you can catch your breath. I said yes, the woman told me that, and that's just was I was going to do when I made my payment later this week. THEN he says, well, deferrments are not automatic, and you are not eligible, but you do need one. (WTF???? )

THEN, the topper: He says that granting a deferrment puts "a lot of strain and pressure on the company." I BURST OUT LAUGHING!! Between gales of giggles, I said, "you have GOT to be kidding me! Only the top part of my head is sticking out of the water, and I'm supposed to feel bad for a gigantic company like Capital One? BWAHAHAHAHAHA" He says, well, you aren't the only one who may ask for one. I said, yes, I know but I can't worry about them, and I sure as heck am NOT GOING TO worry about the company! I was still laughing when I got off the phone!

I think I done gone and fell down da wabbit hole!

8. Now that you mention it, yes they do!
I must have missed the fine print: "Except of course, when things aren't going well for you financially, then we will hound you to the ends of the earth!"

7. If the company is so strained
Mr. Capital One guy should just volunteer not to get paid this week, then.

13. Aw! Maybe you can send them a care package!
You could include some Little Debbies, some ramen, toilet paper, and the number for one of those blood donation places, so they can go out and make a couple hundred extra bucks until things "improve" for them.

15. I would not feel bad for Capital One if a giant hole opened up
in the ground and swallowed every one of their executives (I can't blame the grunt workers), flailing and screaming as they were pulled under for their just reward in that special corner of Hell that's reserved for them.

Actually, I'd rather that happened to the execs of Monsanto, but Capital One runs a close second or third.

Heck, they need to make a living too. As i said, the guy i talked to was really nice. But I just couldn't help laugh when he said deferrments put a big strain on the company!

20. The people on the phone are working for commission.
Keep that in mind any time you talk to them. They'll do anything and say anything they think they can get away with so that you'll make your payment with them.

I can only do what I can do.
