Well I wish we could have snow and/or storms. We need the rain (Photos)
Sunset in Lubbock
Looking west from Lubbock, the smoke from the New Mexico fire creates an red-orange sunset (photo by Todd Lindley)

Visible satellite image taken around 4:30 pm CST shows several distinct smoke plumes from the larger wildfires along with blowing dust across the South plains and Rolling Plains.

The Infrared image taken around the same time clearly shows several "hot spots", where the intense heat from the wildfires shows up in black on the image

Radar image from 3:42 pm CST. The radar echoes from the dense smoke plumes can be seen spreading downwind

The black areas show the approximate burn areas from the wildfires

It has got to rain soon. Or we will blow away in the next dust storm. It is so dry the city is starting to have a rodent problem because they are coming into the water and looking for food.

SO I have to talk to myself.

4. There's a town in TX called "Liberal" ???
I bet the fundie residents hate that. Man, I feel for you though, I'm near Tulsa, and we had a pretty big one just a couple of miles from our house. Stunk up the place real bad, but I think it only got a barn, so that's good.

8. I see a lot of burn spots that start at the side of the road
You know that's usually coming from someone who tossed a butt out the window still lit.

10. Please do.
We need it bad. If not for anything else but to cut the pollen down and the smoke from fires.

12. Be careful what you wish for
I know y'all need the rain, but the worst tornado I ever experienced
was in Sweetwater. An F4 if I recall right. Hail piled up like snowdrifts.

I pray you get just rain when it comes, and it will.

13. We will either have a late snowstorm, or a god awful severe T-storm...
But right now I would take a foot of snow just to get some moisture.

25. Saw the Groom and Borger pics today OMG!
Why were people allowed to drive when it was so smoky at Groom area today? Or did it just get out of control so quickly that there was no time to set up a roadblock on I-40?

Grew up in OK and have spent time in TX panhandle. Used to visit a family friend in Borger, and have driven I-40 past Groom many times.

Am actually headed that route late April-early May this spring.

Sure hope I can pull some of the west coast rain with me when I take my trip.

Did that huge cross in Groom get hit by the fire? Am sure it meas something to some some people, but I find it really creepy.

Hope you're safe, texas1928! :pals:
