What store discount cards are on your keychain?
Taking a look at my keychain today, I counted eight. Why not just offer the sale price to everybody?

1. Giant Eagle Advantage Card
2. Tops Bonus Card
3. Cuyahoga County Public Library card
4. Heinen's Card
5. Pet Supermarket VIP card
6. PetSmart Pet Perks Card
7. CVS Extra Care Card
8. Men's Wearhouse discount card.

1. Just 1
A Shoprite super saver card that I've actually used to pick locks with more than I've used it while grocery shopping

3. Ace Hardware
But it is so scratched up they can't read it. I use it as a file marker between keys.

4. two: Petsmart Perks and King Soopers.
Both under bogus names, addresses and phone numbers. If I lose my keys, I'm getting everything rekeyed, anyway. I will not be tracked.

I don't shop at Safeway or Albertson's, and those three are the only choices I have, other than Target or Walmart. My Costco card lives in my wallet. My library doesn't have key-cards.

5. None
I hate those things. If I have to join a club and be put on their junk mail list to get discounts then I'll shop somewhere else.

10. The discounts are fake anyway.
Every market basket study ever done shows that if there is a competing chain without a loyalty card the consumer on average doesn't save anything using the club cards. The discount is really just the old sale price now limited to people who are willing to give up buying pattern data under the guise of saving money.

6. I use 'em, but they sure are a pain
But, they do save $$. What's bothersome is that you need a separate card for each store. Defeats the whole purpose of using one credit/debit card.

Once we all have implanted chips we won't need any cards.

Giant Food Stores
CVS Extra Care card
Clements Grocery
Shop Rite Foods

:-)

7. I just use my phone number
I can't be bothered to carry them all. It's a pain in the ass. And yes, it's a fake number, but one I use over and over again. They do give the sale price to everyone, you simply have to ask for it. they'll scan a store card, or you can input a false phone number. All they want to do is track you, and find out what you buy and when.

When a store requires I register for a discount card, I stop shopping at that store. And no, my Costco card doesn't count!!
