Need a good TV/DVD remote

We have a mere two TVs in our home. However, on our big screen Sony, we have a Toshiba DVD player hooked up to it (among other things, like an Onkyo Home Theater System & Dish Network)... recently, I think our 3 year old daughter got ahold of the DVD remote and it no longer works (I've tried new batteries & also checked to see if a button is jammed in place). Any suggestions for an easy to use universal remote that will control everything? Or, should I just go to toshiba.com & see if I can order a new remote for just the DVD player?

On our other TV, an RCA, we just have it hooked up to DISH Network. We lost the original remote, so we cannot use a DVD or VCR with it - you have to flip between TV & DVD and the DISH Network remote will not do that. Somebody at my local Circuit City had recommended a Sony remote with a button to flip between TV and DVD, but that did nothing. For this one, will I need a new RCA remote, or will a better quality non RCA remote work for it? (The Sony remote supposedly could work, but couldn't even turn the TV on or off)
