... those of us who don't live in a city where our paper is smart enough to carry it? Mine doesn't, but I have searched and found out of town papers that do for the first two weeks. In that light, I'll summarize them here... but I don't think I'll be able to find it most weeks.
Mods: I don't think this violates any copyright, since I'm just describing the strip.
Week 1 (Nov. 23): Opus sits relaxing on a beautiful beach, reading "Cool Tropical Guy". A beautiful woman appears, swooning and cooing to Opus. The images Breathed drew are of a stunning, dreamlike, tropical goddess in a stunning, dreamlike, tropical Eden... Opus's dreams have come true, it seems.
She comes closer, kisses Opus and says something like: "Guido just regurgitated a squid! Let's go see if we can find some good pieces!"
Opus's dream is shattered, and the beautiful woman is transformed into a rather unsightly penguin colleague of Opus', while the utopian paradise becomes a barren, Antarctic wilderness.
Opus looks at the reader and says: "Oh, and I guess YOU'RE where YOU thought you'd be in ten years!?!"
His friend also says something like "Kiss me again and I'll SLUG ya!"
Week 2 (Nov. 30) (I don't remember this one in as much detail): Several panes about the trials and tribulations of Opus' life, such as dealing with "overbearing management" (a large elephant seal trying to consume Opus), and other daily trials of "modern life" (including an Orca exploding out of the ice beneath him, trying to devour him, of course).
The last pane has Opus lying on the ground, having escaped all of the prior trials, only to encounter the most challenging one: "Mothers". Opus's mother is introduced for the first time, standing over him, saying something typically motherly, in an annoying way.
Anyone able to re-tell this one better?
Anyone willing to do this on a weekly basis?
