I just got my heart handed to me on a platter
I'm transferring from the University of AZ to the University of Montana, so I'll be moving soon. Anyway, a girl I've been after for awhile, just e-mailed me and said she's too busy to meet up with me to say goodbye.

Holy wow, I wanted her. Even to just see her for one last time.

I need to get over this hopeless romantic stuff. It's too hard on a guy.

That little girl just hammered my heart.

1. That totally blows

As a hopeless romantic whose heart has become little more than a mound of scar tissue, I fully empathize with your situation.

2. I'm sorry!
I had a similar experience with a girl. If you're leaving, pour your heart out to her. You'll feel better.

4. So now you need this C&W song:
You Stomped On My Heart

You done stomped on my heart,
and mashed that sucker flat!

Baby you just sorta,
tromped on my aorta.

I think there are more verses.
Chin up.
There are more fish in the sea, etc., and other platitudes like that which do absolulely no good.

5. Buck Up, Little Camper!
Some day, you'll be happy.

And she'll be 40.

9. Uh, is this somebody you've had the beddin' of?
Or somebody you've been doing the puppy-dog follow around routine with?
If you've had a "thing going on", man, that's COLD. If you just think about her at night, fageddaboutit!

11. We used to flirt with each other in class etc
She once told me when everybody was talking about an essay a lady wrote about bad boys that women love, that the whole time she was thinking about me.

We were good friends, had good chemistry.....

I gave her my number when class ended expecting something to happen, closer friendship, date, pretty much anything except what did.

Other than some e-mails here and there she just totally went cold on me.

For the life of me I could never figure out why.

13. You know, I once had a friend like that...
Edited on Wed Dec-03-03 05:57 PM by omshanti
he used to ask me to go to parties with him, flirt with me shamelessly in public, etc etc, and I just couldn't figure out what was going on because he never made any further moves. All our acquaintances thought we were dating, and that was the rumor in our little social circle.

Come to find out, all the time, he was dating one of his students (it was a small college town), and I could never figure out if he truly considered me a friend or was just using my friendship to cover up his relationship with this other woman.

Wetzelbill if I were you I wouldn't pursue this woman further, just my 2 cents' worth.
Grrr.... I hate head games....

(edited b.c my sentences get all convoluted sometimes)

15. Puppy-dog love stinks!
"It rotteth a man's soul and maketh him into a puthy."

Likeseriouslynowdude, here's a little secret, the kind of secret that only a pompous gasbag of a loser like myself can impart to a tender young poetic soul such as yourself: Women Hate Weak Men. And they will use such men without concern, smug in the carnal perfection of their youth and the sadistic privilege of their noblesse-manqué.

Pretend they're all snot-nosed, measels-infected, bratty pre-teen little girls, and you're the new Principal.

That is, up until the time one of them wants you, or else it'd be pedophilia, and we don't want that now, do we?

Swive with vigor, love with abandon, and Good Luck.

12. Yup, thanks everybody
I replied back to her, was pretty sweet, funny, and honest. I didn't pour out my heart for too long, but enough to make me feel better etc. We're both writers, worked for our paper -she's a features reporter, I was a political columnist- as well as both being in the same nonfiction workshop. We both have a healthy respect for each others work and everything. So I sent her one last thing I wrote, which I also submitted to DU. Something to remember me by. Maybe I'll feel better tomorrow. Thanks again. You all helped.

14. sweetie,
you are at 'that age' when no one knows what the other
is really thinking. Its all fun and goofing around. I
think if you REALLY like a girl next time, don't be
ambiguous about it. TELL them. Some people need it handed
out straight. All they can do is say no.

Flirting is fun. F.U.N. If you want more serious, let
them know, honey. Girls love to be lured, wooed and
finally TOLD.

You're a sweetie. You'll be okay. But next time, lay
down a trail of bread crumbs or something. 'K?

RV, sort of grandma-ing it out here just for you. :)

16. hmmm
You were leaving, right? So what's the value for her in seeing you off? Maybe she's sorry you're leaving. Maybe she hates goodbyes. Maybe you should have included an invitation to host her for a ski weekend at Big Sky. I think it's expecting too much to think she would want to date you just as you're going away.

17. Maybe she just can't handle goodbyes?
Some people can't. You don't know enough about her to know whether it's traumatic for her to say goodbye to people, or something. Whatever the deal is, it's HER issue, not yours.

There's women in Montana, or were last time I was through there. ;-)
