I've got a low testosterone level because of an injury to my endocrine system, and am on testosterone replacement therapy.

In males, testosterone helps provide energy and also helps to keep the brain healthy. It's responsible for properly regulating a lot of our glandular function-- not just the sexual organs, either. It helps to regulate moods and thinking, too.

You wouldn't think it has anything to do with anything besides sexual function, but it does quite a bit.

I don't regret any part of my life. Even the bad things. It's my life - the good and the bad.

I've been gay bashed twice. When I was 17 I was raped and it was really fucking ugly. I've mentioned it a lot recently (but never told anyone the details) because lately it's been bothering me. I think it's survivor guilt. He raped and killed a lot of young men. Of all of them, I was the only one he left alive.

Would I go back and change any of that? Maybe. But when I was a therapist I dealt with a lot of women who had been raped and that slit-my-wrists experience helped me to help them. I can't regret that.

But it just makes me furious when people who wouldn't know persecution and horror if it bit them in the ass complain and whine about how bad off they are.

But it warms my heart to see kids like you. Fierce, determined and compassionate. We, my generation, did not save the world or the people in it. We tried. Now it's your turn :)

Let's see here: white single mother, low income, decently educated (mostly self but still tend to be smarter than most candidates at interviews for various jobs).

I'm passed over constantly for jobs that are given to young white males w/ no experience. I hear comments about my "promiscious" lifestyle just because I am not married. When I do find employment I usually get to be the "coffee girl" while the men talk.

I've been raped and when I reported it to my campus security officer he said that I "asked for it" by going to the party in the first place. And I must have been a nasty person or else an old boyfriend wouldn't have hit me so much.

It seemed to be about straight-forward research and I hated that. If I wanted to spend all my time acting like the bigger know-it-all I would have stayed w/ team in high school instead of begging to switch to LD. No way I was going to do that in college!

I recently judged LD at a local high school and was sorely disappointed. No persuasive speeches, no appeals to intellect-it reminded me of team debate all over again.

As a feminist, I've often wished I could live a year as a woman. I mean, I really try to understand the issues and be supportive of women - but as a man, for me the issues are always gonna be more intellectual than personal. I'll never know what it feels like to have to make the decision to either have an abortion or not. And I have been forcefully reminded that men and women view sex very differently. And although I am gay and have suffered discrimination and violence because of it, the discrimination woman face is different. I can sympathize but not truly understand.

But we guys aren't all bad. Some of us do try :)

Yes, I have done drag. Several times. And at many times I've been mistaken as female - even after I grew a beard!

Nowadays, although a feminist and more and more seeing how our culture mistreats men too, gender for me is a game. Something to play with, have fun with. It's only a trap when it's taken seriously. Then again, I'm crazy - I recognize more than a dozen possible genders.
