To all the girls I've loved before.....
I don't know the rest of the words....
But what does it matter....
It's the thought that counts....

1. It's just as well you don't know the rest of the words.
I hate that song.

The sentiment is nice though.

4. I loved that song -- sang it on the eve of Feb. 3rd to myself
in the swimming pool in Tucson, Arizona. I sang it because I happened to contact my first boyfriend -- who was born on February 4, 1936, and whom I called quite by chance last year. He turned 70 the next morning and I called him to wish him well. We plan to see each other along with our spouses next October in Florida.

I lost another important person in my life this year in January. His birthday was also February 4th, but he passed away too soon to make it to his 81st birthday. So, I sang the song to myself and later, kissed my husband, whom I married on -- guess when --- February 4, 1973. I also found out later that date was my maternal grandfather's birthday.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

To all the boys I've loved before
Who travelled in and out my door

I'm glad you came along
I dedicate this song

To all the boys I've loved.

2. I'm with Buffy!
Why not do "88 lines about 44 women" instead? Much more direct and honest.

What's up, Chris? Just feeling sentimental? I can dig that :) Or something else?

Khash.

sitting down like a Buddha sat

who left her mark upon the map
Karen liked to tie me up
and left me hanging by a strap
Jeannie had a nightclub walk
that made grown men feel underage
Mariella, who had a son,
said I must go, but finally stayed

Gloria, the last taboo
was shattered by her tongue one night
Mimi brought the taboo back
and held it up before the light
Marilyn, who knew no shame,
was never ever satisfied
Julie came and went so fast
she didn't even say goodbye

Rhonda had a house in Venice
lived on brown rice and cocaine
Patty had a house in Houston
shot cough syrup in her veins
Linda thought her life was empty
filled it up with alcohol
Katherine was much too pretty
she didn't do that shit at all

turn it on and turn it off

silver spoon and a paper plate

Sarah was a modern dancer
lean pristine transparency

in a crazy kind of urgency

while wearing leather biker boots
Brenda's strange obsession
was for certain vegetables and fruit

Rowena was an artist's daughter
the deeper image shook her up
Dee Dee's mother left her father
took his money and his truck
Debbie Rae had no such problems
perfect Norman Rockwell home
Nina, 16, had a baby
left her parents, lived alone
Bobbi joined a New Wave band
changed her name to Bobbi Sox
Eloise, who played guitar,
sang songs about whales and cops
Terri didn't give a shit
was just a nihilist
Ronnie was much more my style
cause she wrote songs just like this
Jezebel went forty days
drinking nothing but Perrier
Dinah drove her Chevrolet
into the San Francisco Bay
Judy came from Ohio
she's a Scientologist
Amaranta, here's a kiss
I chose you to end this list.

5. Hey, Xema! That's quite a song! Now, how about one with boys' names?
Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 02:44 AM by Radio_Lady
Problem is, I can't rightly remember most of their names... or anything else about them.

Ah, memories fade -- and ain't that a good thing?????

9. Me too....
I take a bit of each and every one...

Whether fair or not...

With me along my life's journey....

Filling the past with fits and starts...

And long, drawn out good byes......

But they all made me what I am today....

A man who loves women.....
