Yanni busted for Domestic Battery.
Maybe his music finally drove him crazy?

Monday, March 06, 2006

Music superstar Yanni was arrested at his Manalapan home early Friday morning after his girlfriend accused him of slapping and shaking her during a late-night argument, The Palm Beach Post has learned.

The international New Age icon spent 12 hours at the Palm Beach County Jail before being released Friday afternoon. He did not have to post bond, but he is barred from contact with his girlfriend and is required to check in with court personnel on a daily basis.

Manalapan police were called to the oceanfront home of the 51-year-old musician — whose real name is John Y. Christopher — late Thursday after his girlfriend called 911 from a locked bathroom, according to a police report.

The girlfriend, Silvia Barthes, 33, told police that Yanni ordered her to take her clothes and move out of his house, located at 1220 S. Ocean Blvd.

During an argument, she claimed that he grabbed her by her arms and shook her, then threw her down onto a bed. She said he also slapped her, according to the report.

1. Note to girlfriend: If he's role-playing Sampson, cut off his hair...

Indeed, whereever it grows long, cut it off.

And if you find that one special hair (about 8" due south of the navel), relish cutting that one off too. He shouldn't be allowed to have it.

2. James Brown I can see but Yanni???
Maybe it's a publicity stunt and he's going to roll out a new type of jazzy, hip-hop, genre.

3. Good thing he didn't play any of his music.
That's considered aggravated assault these days, isn't it?

5. More reasons to hate Yanni
As if getting slapped around by a boyfriend wasn't bad enough...but to get slapped by Yanni? That just adds insult to injury.

6. Where's the pretty smile, the wind blown (stage fan) hair?
He's newspaper mug shot is not so glamorous. But, then, like you I'm not what you would call his biggest fan.

Can't wait to show the article to a swooning Greek women colleague at work! :nopity:
