I just have to ask, why does everyone hate Oscar? He hasn't done anyone
any harm. . . .

1. A timely reminder--Oscar deserves redemption from the Lounge
(and GDP?!) nastiness.

8. Oh A-Schwarzenegger
Saw this thread last night and loved it so much. The soft tortilla ears and the snore like shaking a can of plums kept me smiling today. Have shared it with others too.

If Oscar ever makes it into a book there is an illustrator on DU - Lorien - who could do wonders I bet. She posted some of her work once and she can see the soul of animals I swear.

Thank you for Oscar.

9. I'm glad you enjoyed it, KT.
That is what he is for, joy. Yes, I am
turning it into a book, approximately.

10. I'm not sure I want to see Oscar outside of my imagination
He/she? might lose some of the magic.

11. No, if illustrated at all it will be extreme close-ups of
various & sundry body areas, like eyelashes, fur, tip
of the tail, iris, pad of paw, etc. Nothing to spoil or hinder
the play of the imagination.

12. Ooooo I love that idea.

:loveya: Can you imagine at Halloween...just think if little kids put on blindfolds and passed around a bowl of spaghetti and grapes, touching it while mom says "and this is Oscars attempt at a perpetual motion machine..." I suggest that your book include textures too, if you are going to go that route. Viva Oscar. :bounce:

13. Cool.

Ha! Love it.

"I suggest that your book include textures too, if you are going to go that route."

You mean illustrations in which the textures are very pronounced? If so, yeah, that's the way I see it. Real detailed close-ups of areas. Pores, fleas, DNA. Maybe even unidentified by text. So, it'd be like the elephant and the blind men.

14. That is a fantastic idea.

I appreciate that you can use your imagination to determine Oscar's true self, but it has a "what is this?" close-up appeal like they did in the childrens science monthlies that feature a microscopic close up of a flower petal or insect leg. Great idea. :bounce:

15. Good suggestion---actual micro-photographic close-ups.
Especially since the creature-being himself
eschews cameras. Or chews cameras.
