It's okay, Daniel Craig; I can't drive a stick, either.

That is, I think I can operate one going forward, but not backward, and since I have to back out of my long driveway, the point is moot.

Are Danny and I the only ones?

2. I do not even think I can go forward
but at various times I have thought I should learn to drive a stick. But I also do not know who Daniel Craig is. Jim Craig's nephew?

of shooting in a fight scene accident.

If I were director, I'd have sent him off to learn how to drive a stick. It's not like he doesn't get paid enough. They teach these people everything from movie "martial arts" to dancing. Getting Craig to operate a proper stick would be child's play in comparison, and to play James Bond he really should step up and learn.

BTW, Daniel Craig looks like Alexander Putin, former head of the KGB. How's that for irony?

5. I'm suprised he hasn't done the stunt driving class
In the remake of "The Italian Job", Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron and all the other principle actors were sent to a stunt driving class so they would know how to drive and make it look real. One would suspect anyone doing a James Bond movie would have to know how to do some fancy driving.

6. Not to mention a fun free perk for the actors!
Race driving schools are a blast, tremendously fun - I imagine stunt driving schools are even better.

It's race driving school - my mind had drawn a blank.

20. They do stunt driving instruction also!
You were correct right off the bat. Google up "stunt driving school" and you can see all the hits...

Here's a photo from one of the classes. Who said it's no fun to study! :)

13. Daniel Craig has the looks to make a great Bond henchman
but not Bond himself, IMO.

I can't believe that they are converting his Aston Martin DB5 to an automatic.

16. After a week of practice, you'd be just fine.
And you'd probably start thinking automatics are boring.

9. I can't drive stick
I wish I could. We own a Corvette Z06 that I can't drive because it's stick shift... and a Corvette is not the kind of car I want to learn on.

12. There's always the "learning thru desperation" method.
I had two cars available to go to the doctor's office when I was sick once. And both were stick. 18 years later, I'm still driving stick.

17. In my case it took about a week.
Of course now I think driving an automatic is boring as hell.

26. I was an overnight sensation.
Of course, I stalled in traffic a few times. I did finally get the rhythm after a few more days.

24. So true
My first car had a stick. I had an uncle go with me to pick it up. We stopped at a mall parking lot on the way home and I got a 15 minute lesson. Then he said lets go home. Do or die.

18. I learned on a stick
I even know how to use the parking brake so I don't roll backwards shifting into first. This made me a driving god to my friends in the dorms when we all had jobs driving -ancient- delivery vehicles.

Then you wouldn't have to back out.

Problem solved.

27. I can drive a stick without using the clutch
Really cool! My brother taught me how after a clutch spring (or some kind of mechanism) broke on my old VW Quantum. Could have saved a towing fee. Got another chance to use my new skill a couple months later when the clutch failed again.

I miss a manual shift car. And some (but now all) of my old clunkers. Never worried about getting a dent or scratch.
