This week in punk rock...
School cops punk'd by explosive message

March 5, 2006

ATHENS, Ohio -- Authorities shut down four buildings at Ohio University after police noticed a sticker that said ''this bike is a pipe bomb'' before finding out the message was the name of a punk rock band, a university spokesman said.

1. The owner of the bike is charged and could possibly get 6 mos. in jail?
Maybe they should charge the cops with vandalism for destroying personal property.

I mean yeah, the dude was stupid to put that particular sticker on his bike, but stupidity isn't a crime.

3. Well
i could see inciting panic, or something like that. But not 6 mos. in jail, that's fucking ridiculous

4. So it wasn't really a murder bike?

(Obscure punk rock references = fun.)

But he faces up to 6 months in jail, for a fairly clever use of a band sticker? And I thought shit couldn't get any more ridiculous than it has been recently.

8. Um...
Edited on Mon Mar-06-06 02:30 PM by asthmaticeog
...if someone were going to use a bike as a pipe bomb, why would they put a fucking sticker saying so on said bike?

Analogous: "Excuse me officer, I need to murder the resident of blah blah blah whatever street, and I'm afraid I've gotten a bit lost. Can you help me out with some directions so I can expedite this little murder I'm fit'na commit?"

Never. Fucking. Happen.

9. Negativeland "Escape From Noise" ...
One of the tracks is called "Car Bomb" and with the album, when you could buy albums, had a "Car Bomb" bumper sticker. You could order them online, but they have since been taken off per 9/11.

10. That's almost as good as the band named "Free Beer Tonight"
those who didn't "get it" would often show up at the bars and cause a stir.
