New Bond willing to do full frontal but can't drive a stick shift
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/gossip/story/396879p-336396c.html

The nude Bond could be XX7

James Bond star Daniel Craig is ready to make his mark in his first film as 007.
Craig told movie execs he would not only show his rear, but was happy to bare all, London's Mirror reported.

The 37-year-old star of the forthcoming "Casino Royale" said: "In today's world, we expect female actresses to go naked, so why not men?

"I'm not shy and Bond wouldn't be shy about it either," Craig added.

The blond actor has been criticized by die-hard Bond fans who suspect he's not tough enough.

Anxiety mounted after it was revealed Craig can only drive an automatic car, forcing producers to convert Bond's traditional Aston Martin DB5.

Craig has been spotted sporting bruises and grazes after chasing a suicide bomber in the latest Bond thriller. He even had two teeth knocked out shooting a fight scene in Prague.

3. Bond films are never R rated.
I don't expect that to change.

6. They were happy to push the limits of PG
but going full "R" would lose a large portion of their audience.

30. 'Licence to Kill' (1989) was R-rated. But not by much, and in 2005,
'Licence to Kill' would be given a PG rating. (not PG-13)

5. Which? A Nude Bond or a Bond that drives Automatic

Both could be considered disturbing!

14.  A Bond that drives Automatic.
Plus I'm not at all inspired by the thought of seeing this particular Bond in the buff.

15. I never drove stick until I sold cars
after that I can say I got pretty good at stick and even drove a Dodge Viper, Acura NSX and a variety of Porches - all Stick.

I probably haven't touched a Stick Shift in over 10 years, but I'm sure after a 5 minute refresher I would be fine.

I can't believe they're not going to teach him how to drive stick. I makes me wish they would have kept Pierce Bronson who not only can drive stick, but I can assure most of us would love to see in Full Frontal!

11. And why does Bond have to be nude all of a sudden?
x(

Toughness isn't baring one's hot dog and buns in front of the camera. It's about making tough choices and doing what's needed to ensure the mission is a success.

Now if he wants to betray M (Judy Dench), distracting her by showing his tackle might just do it...

If you want tough, look at Roger Moore's portrayal in "For Your Eyes Only" (where he has some really coldblooded scenes), and Timothy Dalton in either of his two flicks. Connery in his first two, maybe three, films is darn fine too.

12. Driving a stick shift should be a prerequisite for that job.
Maybe that's really judgmental and cliche of me, and I guess more power to you if you can pull off a character who is so different from yourself, but it just seems wrong

18. Define the character.
Pierce Brosnan and Roger Moore shouldn't have been given the role.

Both of them (especially Brosnan) ham it up like there's no tomorrow. (though at least Moore is semi-serious in "The Spy Who Loved Me", is awesome in "The Spy Who Loved Me" and even has a few great moments in "Octopussy". Can't even begin to say a syllable about Brosnan having a decent flick; though at least the trailer for "Goldeneye" came close to being proper...)

Bond, of the books and even half of the Connery era, were somewhat gritty and bleak. Dalton is the best BECAUSE he's the closest viwers ever got to having a consistent, broody book Bond.

So Craig can't handle a stick. Modern day technology can give him an automatic with a strap-on. Big deal, he can act like he knows how to use a stick.

The nudity is totally wrong for the character. He's a spy. Not a porn star. This isn't updating the role. It's trashing it further. Unless he's being a bastard toward a chick in the process because Bond himself is not PC and does nasty things at times (even smokes cigars! :wow: ) He breaks the rules and is not liked by M, but M keeps him on because he gets the job done. (the Brosnan/Dench relationship being totally wrong as well.)

What if they made Harry Potter totally distinguishable from the original books? Purists would be up in arms, I'd hope.

I am more upset that this Bond cannot drive a stick shift than the possibility he'll be nude on screen.

16. I don't care what anyone says - I love Daniel Craig and because
of him, I just may be able to sit through a James Bond movie without falling asleep for the first time ever!

And I love his comments about nudity "The 37-year-old star of the forthcoming "Casino Royale" said: "In today's world, we expect female actresses to go naked, so why not men?" It's about time somebody said it.

I saw him in "Love is the Devil" with Derek Jacobi the other night and he was completely in the buff in a few scenes - totally worth the price of admission!

31. They shouldn't , usually.
Unless they're Daniel Craig. :)

Seriously though, for years women have been shown full-frontal in film while the male characters often remained completely clothed. I admire him for saying there shouldn't be a double standard. Straight men aren't the only ones who enjoy seeing a beautiful naked body, why shouldn't women and gay men be allowed some eye candy once in a while?

And boy does he look good naked! :P

That said, can't they bloody well TEACH him how to drive a stick, or are they afraid he'll destroy the car too?

Edited on Mon Mar-06-06 07:39 PM by LostinVA
No, I'm serious. Bond. Jane Bond. She would truly be fabulous. Born to play the role -- is she the best actress in the world? No, but she's competent enough for Bond. And, I'll match her rakish smile and arched eyebrow against ANY male Bond's, even Connery's...

28. The only circumstances in which I would willingly watch
a Bond film would be if Bond was naked through the whole thing. Not so much Sean Connery- anymore but maybe from a while back. Those films are old, tired and boring. Time to let the franchise go
