I lost my old dog this morning
 My German Shorthair had been feeling a bit off, and took a turn for the worse early this morning. She died this morning in my arms.

19. I gotta get a kitten.
Seriously. My cat and my dog were very attached to each other, and he needs a buddy. He's been looking for her all day....knows what happened, obviously, but still he's looking for her. We actually had to close him up in another room this morning while getting ready to transport her remains to the vet. He wasn't leaving her.

She will live on inside and outside of you. It is beautiful. Her life has meaning within you, every day. God bless. You are loved and protected. :)

23. I'm sorry, but never forget the happiness your care gave her..
too many dogs are ditched by their owners, and so many are put to sleep every year by the Humane Society. I know what it is like to lose a dog in my arms, who has shown me love for decades. But at least this care from owners like you makes their lives worth living!

24. Words can't help...
but here's some love in your direction, anyhow. (and you too, lavenderdiva).

And if love doesn't work...try screaming GODDAMNMOTHERFUCKINGSHITFUCKSHIT at the top of your lungs.

It probably won't help much, either- but that's how I felt for a looong time after I lost my old girl last year.

28. a picture

This was taken shortly after I got her. Was weird how that happened, too. I was given this dog because she was a chicken killer (untrained for field bird dog, tame birds, bad combination). What was even funnier is that the people who had her at the time, had had her for maybe two months, and she attached to me from the time they brought her home (my horses were boarded there). So.....when she did what she did, I quite naturally took her home with me, and there she stayed :)

30. My thoughts are with you
I had to let go of my beloved Gumbo pup 2 years ago, Feb. 27.
Just reading all these good thoughts sent your way has me in tears.
Even though I still have a housefull full (8) puppers, I miss my
Gummydog and I know how you feel. Best wishes.

Happily, you were together at the end. Here's a "meditation" that will give the two of you access to each other for awhile longer. I figure three days or so.

Connecting with a loved one over distance/time. See yourself in the center of a perfectly formed, comfortably large circle. Fill it with gentle, golden flame, moving through you and all around you. Breathe normally. *Let* yourself breathe. Don't *make* yourself breathe. It may change into and egg. If it moves or changes, let it. If you get sensations and feelings moving, have them and watch things progress. This means your processing what you've been holding and going through. Breathing normally and paying attention to the image and your breath stabilizes the images and the experience.

After you see the images as being stable and while you're in the middle of them, ask to be with yor dog. You should be right there. The two of you will have unfettered access to each other and anything you want will be able to pass between the two of you.
See her in her own circle also surrounded, inside and out, with gentle golden flame. You'll feel/see flame, sensations and emotions transmitting back and forth between you. It may be intense at first. With renewed effort, the intensity will lessen as things get exchanged between the two of you and your situations come more into balance. Just focus on the image and breathe normally.

Once things have settle down, you can come into further balance by changing the flame to violet.

Duration brings increased benefits, as does frequency even though a minute or so at any one time brings benefits if you don't want to do more at any sitting.
