Just Exactly HOW Amazing is Al Pacino you ask?
Edited on Mon Mar-06-06 07:17 AM by TheWatcher
In my humble opinion, he is arguably one of the greatest Actors of our time, BUT, how Amazing is he? Exactly.

Just exactly how brilliant IS he.

Well, for evidence, plenty of people will tell you to look to these clues for evidence of his level of Brilliance.....

Serpico
Dog Day Afternoon
The Godfather II
And Justice For All
Carlito's Way
Scarface
Sea Of Love
Scent Of A Woman (Hoooooo-AHHHHH!)
Heat
Donnie Brasco
The Insider
Glengarry Glenross ("Who The Fuck Told You That You Could Work With Men?!!!!!")

I say NONSENSE.

If you REALLY want to know how amazing Pacino is, watch Gigli.

That's right, Gigli.

For the first 70 minutes of Gigli, I was convinced there was NOTHING that could save that film from joining the likes of Ishtar, Battlefield Earth, Manos The Hands Of Fate, and Heaven's Gate as one of the worst films of all time. But Pacino's scene almost single-handedly rescued the film from a complete disaster, to a complete disaster with one HELL of a memorable scene that made you almost completely forgive the mind-numbing torture you were just previously subjected to. ALMOST.

Does it single-handedly save the film?

Of course not. He's Amazing, Not Omnipotent. :) BUT.....If he'd had a bigger part in the film, he just might have.

If you ever get the chance, and you are a fan, find a way to somehow subject yourself to this awful film JUST to see that one scene.

You may not believe it will be worth it, but trust me, it is. :)

And That, Said The Cat, Is That. :)

1. Pacino is absolutely amazing.
Someone posted that he didn't deserve an Oscar for "Scent of a Woman". I can't even respond that rationally.

3. Yes I DID and Thank You for noting that

That is one of my favorite Pacino films, and a film that is sadly overlooked. It's one of the best performances he had, so I am a little embarrassed for not including that in the list, but he has so many. :)

The thing that got me about Cruising was the ending, which I won't spoil for anyone who hasn't seen it, but it was just riveting.

A movie like Cruising would probably never get made today, and it is just more proof about how important the 70's were and still are in this country's Cinematic History.

4. Indeed!
Every gay man in the world hates that movie, except me.

Pacino was stellar.... but then he almost always is.

6. I'm out of order?! You're out of order! The whole F*CKING system is out of
0rder!

One of my all time favorite movie lines from "And Justice for All". An excellent movie with a "liberal" theme. I agree. Pacino is one of the all-time greats.
