Brokeback Mountain
Walk The Line
Good Night and Good Luck
War of the Worlds
King Kong
Harry Potter and the Bucket of Hormones
Crash
Howl's Moving Castle
Memoirs of a Geisha

1. Yes, this was not a great year for movies.
:hide:

I kid, I kid, I didn't get to see many movies last year, but the ones I saw were very good.

2. Harry Potter and the Bucket of Hormones...

It's a good thing I wasn't drinking something...it would be everywhere. That's hilarous.
Oh, and What about Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? That was a great one too. OF course it got no respect, but whatever.

5. Batman Begins
I even bought the DVD for Christmas.

I missed Cinderella Man. I'll rent it before they repossess the TV.

10. Cinderella Man
Before Walk the Line came out I thought for sure would win the oscar. I tell you what if you rent it and don't like it, I'll pay for the rental. It's that good.

6. A lot of good movies came out this year...
I saw six of those you listed.

I really didn't care for Hitchhiker's Guide, though.

9. As far as zombie movies go, that was a good one.
It had some interesting themes in it too for being essentially a zombie flick.

8. Spielberg's WAR OF THE WORLDS was surprisingly lackluster
It started with the script rewrite and ended with the surprisingly small scope of the movie itself.

I've got the original 50's version on DVD instead. Much better, in my opinion.

14. I beg to differ
I thought it was terrific fun. Predictable as hell, but the segment with Tim Robbins added a dimension that the original (also a great movie--wish I had the DVD) lacked.

I've dug many of his roles

Jacob's Ladder is one of my all-time favorite movies.

13. I agree
I enjoyed most of the films I saw this year.

I felt, personally, that War of the Worlds was way overrated. But that is just me.

16. I really enjoyed it--twice, in fact
it was definitely the roller coaster at the amusement park

not the Degas exhibit at the museum

but it was a fun, cool, dark, Summer, popcorn afternoon with my kids.

19. The surprising thing was how good the fantasy/SF films were
King King
Batman Begins
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Serenity
War of the Worlds
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe

All of these films had a considerable amount of depth to them, and told *human* stories.

20. that's a mighty good list right there
I saw all those and totally forgot terrific movies like Star Wars and Narnia

not to mention frigging Serenity, which if I don't buy the DVD, my daughter will disown me.
