I hate Woody Allen.
Thank God he didn't win for best screen play, but I wish that George Clooney would have gotten it. Dang.

1. I love Woody Allen
My very favorite movie is Bananas. I also loved Take the Money and Run. And The Front is great - all about the blacklisting in the 50s. And it came out a LONG time before Good Night and Good Luck.

... than you are. He's really not the MTV-Generation kind of guy. (Unless, of course, you're Soon-Yi.)

9. My favorite director ever.
In fact, I think he's one of the if not the best American director ever.

I think that in terms of audience relation, his movies don't do well. He puts out a movie every year, but you rarely see them advertised or in chain cinemas. He's from another era, the era that grew up with jazz and the war. Over the past twenty or so years, Woody seems to have withdrawn himself further into that world, while the audience has further distanced itself from it. The passage of time will do that.

So he makes movies in England now. The director so known for his association with everything New York goes to England to make his movies. It happens that way. Kurosawa struggled to get financing in Japan near the end of his career despite international acclaim.

I don't blame people for not liking Woody Allen's films. A lot of people can't relate. But his movies were what made my teenage years survivable, and for that I will forever be in his debt.

10. I love Woody Allen's movies.
not necessarily enamoured of him personally, in terms of his life choices, but artistically, I respect what he's done.

His latest movie, "MatchPoint" was excellent, imo.

13. woody allen is a child molesting incestuous pervert. He was hitting on
Scarlet Johannsen on the set of the pic they did together recently, and he was asking her questions about her virginity, how she lost it, etc.

He's a freak and a pervert who married a child he raised as his daughter.

He should be exiled to an island.

17. I think he is over-rated.
I don't hate his films, though many of them put me to sleep. I do like his scenes of New York and Annie Hall was a lot of fun, if only for Diane Keaton's great performance.

As for the Soon-Yi affair, as an adoptee I was revolteed. Even moreso when I found out about Soon-Yi's abuse and mental disorders. He should have known better, but I also think she knew exactly what she was doing.
