Poll question: What should my sign for the anti-war rally say?
Edited on Sun Mar-05-06 11:51 AM by proud2Blib
I need to make a sign to take to our wekly anti-war protests. Here is my competition:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=364&topic_id=527406

As you can see, these folks are clever. So I need to have just the right saying on my sign.

I have already decided to make it two sided. On one side I think I will put

I CAN'T BELIEVE WE ARE STILL PROTESTING THIS CRAP

I saw that on a sign in DC in September and I love it.

But what should I put on the other side? Here are some possibilities I have considered:

1. I like the "support the troops" one
Good message for all those folks out there who think that having the troops over there trying to dodge car bombs is a good idea.

2. The best one I ever made said...
"YOU CAN'T SPREAD DEMOCRACY ABROAD AND DENY IT AT HOME."

It was for a very specific rally tho.

15. here is a compilation of slogans from sept's protest
Here are some other slogans the media chose not to broadcast.

Some are very clever. Some are really juvenile.

"I can't believe we still have to protest this crap."

"If this war is noble, then let Nobility fight it."

"Real men know when to pull out."

"Make Levees Not War."

"Stop Mad Cowboy Disease"

"I voted for Kerry and all I got was this lousy Orwellian nightmare."

"The Rapture is not an exit strategy."

"G.W.B is a W.M.D"

"Exit Strategy: LEAVE !!!"

"Bush has Iraqtile Dysfunction."

"War is not Pro Life"

"George Bush: Category 5 Disaster"

"Bombing for Peace is like F***ing for Virginity."

"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what the heck is your country doing."

"My son was once an embryo, please don't send him to Iraq."

"Bush says it was faulty-NO SHIT"

"I drink Bordeaux . . .and I vote"

A guy was wearing a T shirt that read "This is what a feminist looks like."

Pics of Bush & Hitler "Same Shit-Different Asshole"

"George, you ignorant slut"

"Bush-Pull Out, Shore wish yo daddy had"

"Impeach Pres. Rove & his bitch Dubya"

"Bush has done so much shit I can't fit it on this sign."

"Difference between Iraq & Vietnam: Bush had an exit strategy for Vietnam."

"The National Guard is in the wrong Gulf."

(from the Billionaires for Bush-a satirical theatrical group who wear evening gowns and tuxes to these events and affect intense snobbery) "Make War Not Jobs"

Georgie Porgie
what a guy,
Dropping Bombs
from way up high.
When the kids
come out to play
George orders
bombs away.

Somebody categorized others as follows

Poetic: "George and Adolf sitting in a tree K-I-L-L-I-N-G"

Childish: "Kick Bush in the Tush"
(held by a 6 year old girl)

Theatrical: "I'd rather bomb in Hollywood than my son bomb in Iraq."
(this lady was wearing a cruise missile costume-on the back is said "Tom Cruise Missile")

Anglican: "King George the Incompetent"

Western: "Come on out, Crawford kid, you're surrounded"

Rhetorical: "Have we won yet?"

Philosophical: "Why do we kill people who kill people to show that killing people is wrong?"

Blunt:"Bush is a motherfucker"

Fave: "George, Do not hit. Use your words."
( held up by a young boy)

Truest: "Democracy at gunpoint is tyranny."

25. Yeah
I didn't go to the protest due to familial commitments and it's simply generally not my way. Writing is my way as well. I pulled those from three different postings and watching obsessively on CSPAN.

Was the first thing that made me feel inspired about american ingenuity in ages.

Glad I saved it. I especially like the Orwellian reference.
