The RetroLounge Daily Poem Thread (Sun 3/5/06)
The Invitation

I have opened the doors
near the garden.
Why don't you come into
the unfolding
of Japanese fans?
The peacocks are strolling
among the lobelia
for no one but you
in this place where
the impossible
is shaking
its bright turquoise feathers.
I have turned
off the radio,
washed purple and green grapes
for the pedestal table,
filled frosted goblets
with fresh well water.
Afterwards the bed,
its turned down silk.
What you have left behind
will forget you
soon enough.

Very nice.

:hi:

On Edit: I checked out some of your poetry on the myspace blog...I don't have a myspace myself, so I can't comment there, but I liked what I read very much.... "Rickenbacker" and "I Never Imagined the End of Us" were especially good.

5. Beautiful!
Man, I wish I could write like that. I've written some poems but they are for the most part crap. I wanted to be a writer at one time and I even tried to get my degree in English, but I will never be cut out for that.

7. I would love
to hide in that garden for a while, take refuge, albeit only for a while.

8. My dear RetroLounge....
How lovely this is! As always.......

One thing these poets seem to all share...the ability to sharply depict an image that imprints itself on your retina.

Beautiful......thank you

14. What gorgeous imagery.
You could almost see the iridescence in the words.

Thank you for another good one! :hi:
