Grapes of Wrath is on Fox Movie Channel
now. It started at 645 Central Time. Awesome movie. This movie would not be made today because it's too pro worker and pro government. The one place that the Joad family finds decent accomodations is not run by a privately owned employer but rather by the Dept of Agriculture.

1. I have never seen the movie, but love the book, the prose.

2. If you see it for sale at Best Buy or Circuit City or
anywhere you buy DVDs you should buy it. My favorite scene is the last one with Henry Fonda where he says (and I am paraphrasing here), Whereever you see injustice being fought I will be there....such a powerful film.

5. Its also anti-police, and vaguely communist.
No, it would not be made today. I'm surprised it was made back then. Look for the Woody Guthrie cameo!

without a warrant today? Now, all they need is probable cause and they can do anything they so desire.

The government would not be portrayed as an agent of good but rather as the cause of the dustbowl.

Wow, how our values have changed.
