Taking a break from DU for Awhile

The xenophobic and at times racist tone that some posters on DU have taken recently has really sickened me. The demagoguery of politicians and posters alike is not something I am interested in at the moment... I see no value in watching people denigrate people and countries I know and respect...

When DU and America wakes-up to the fact that while they have been distracted the Repugs have been plotting how to steal 2008... When they realize Roe Vs.Wade and a host of other liberties have been flushed down the toilet... When they realize that LIHOP applies to our own asses all the time (errr hello Mayor Nagin)...

That's when I will come back...

Until then, consider me on hiatus... but don't think I'm not watching I have been here since they got this party started...

I can literally drive a few blocks and see who is racing camels... or, I could call-up a friend at the palace and see what is happening with the DP deal...

What I know to be true is very different from what is being portrayed here at DU by some...

At least I am in good company (Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter). * has his own axes to grind, not the least of which is Iran...

There are about 80,000 members in this community. Probably less than a dozen are truly xenophobic. Don't let them get you down. Alert on them and let the mods take out the trash.

8. Doggone it, I was wondering where you were when this UAE thing came up

one of the great things about DU is that we usually have a "string correspondent" almost anywhere in the world where an issue comes up, even if it's as remote as the UAE. Pity that some of the more, shall we say, extreme elements (disruptors?) have put you off the discussion.

As for me, it isn't so much that DP World is UAE-owned as it is that Bush**co tried to ram the deal through in secret, with no 45-day review or anything. That kind of underhanded dealing always makes me reach for my tinfoil hat. :tinfoilhat:
