Poll question: Do shows about rich people piss you off?
Something about hearing Nicole Ritchie say "what's a soup kitchen?" made me want to explode. How about you?

3. Yes!
I remember bitching one time about how all these teen actors already have enough money for their next so and so generations and here I am, I have no acting skills but yet I gots knowledge and they are richer than me and set for life. Sucks and is insulting.

8. I thought it was called "Winning the Womb Lottery"....
Same difference though.

I particularly hate those shows on HGTV where they'll say:

"George and Emily have allotted a budget of $30,000 to redecorate their bathroom".

"Fred and Wilma have hired designer Zena Badtaste to decorate the nursery for the baby they are expecting and have given her a budget of 20 thousand"

Yeesh!

Give me more shows that tell me how make my kitchen look good and functional for about 1000 dollar, okay?

18. Only a small percentage of the rich inherited it
Most are self made. Those people are more worthy of admiration

Edited on Tue Dec-02-03 10:36 PM by roughsatori
But I don't mind shows about intelligent rich people--or intelligent shows about morons. Some of my best friends are rich. (Yes that is a true statement and meant as an ironic reference to the "some of my best friends are black" comment many make.)

13. I could give a rat's ass

About watching rich people do anything. I don't think all rich people are automatically evil, hell,I'd like to get rich myself someday. I just can't stand the ones who think that just because they are rich, everybody "beneath their station" in life was put on this planet to serve them.

14. Um, no. And here's why.
Edited on Tue Dec-02-03 10:51 PM by northwest
Because my life may suck right now, but at least it doesn't suck enough to the point where I would even consider gaining an interest in watching any of that crap.

People who want to watch those shows are pathetic. A lot more pathetic than I'll ever be.

it's like they have to show off their fancy shit to everyone while they're on tv, and it's like they're making fun of us and condescending and all that crap.

16. I subscribe to The Clash's point of view.
I don't wanna hear about what the rich are doing
I don't wanna go to where the rich are going
They think they're so clever, they think they're so right
But the truth is only known by guttersnipes

17. Most rich people don't want attention
Trust me, I know. When people know or thinks they know you have money, it can only hurt you. Those who flaunt what they have generally are not the real deal. The reason? Most of the self-made rich would consider all that shit on the TV shows a colossal waste of money.

20. "self made" is a pretty elastic term these days
CEO's swindling shareholders with "stock options" and "loans" and walking away from a bleeding bankruptcy with multi millions (and in the case of Philip Anschutz billions) is hardly "self made wealth"

but on the topic - unless this show gives us Paris getting eaten by hungry boars ala Hannibal I wont be watching because it would totally shit me to hear a vacuous twat like her say/do anything - in aust we've just sat through a week of the walking bikini-wax twins on our newspapers because some deluded PR hack at a local TV station thought it'd be good PR to have paris and moscow (or whatever the other one's called) here for the Melbourne Cup (big horse race) unfortch for the PR types they canoodled (wearing a hankie in freezing weather) in every OTHER marquee except the one they were paid to hang out in - that what you get for expecting spoilt rich girls to comply.

same goes for that twit on MTV who couldn't understand if Chicken of the sea was fish or chicken - watching her and her parents agree with each other that the poor lambkin just couldnt possibly do her own laundry (coz she has what else to do all day? pout? put on more mascara???) made me wanna :puke: and very nearly resulted in my foot going through my friends TV

apart from watching them suffer why would anyone want to watch useless inheritance brats
