Does anyone remember Kofi Annan's laryngitis?

..that he came down with in the spring, after GW defied the UN?
Did anyone find it sadly appropriate or symbolic at the time?

3. The UN rendered ineffective...

which is the way you feel when you can't talk.. It seemed to me that, as the chief representative of the organization, his illness mirrored the UN's sudden powerlessness.

And I'm from from Bellingham, WA, (near Canada & the ocean).
