http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huron%2C_South_Dakota

There is a link there for Gladys Pyle - first woman elected to the US Senate (I thought she was a mere state senator). I knew her. She went to my church. I had a nice conversation with her at some potluck when I was about 12 or 13 and she was about 85.

23. The towns I've lived in...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_City%2C_NJ (Union City, NJ) Man, I'm kind of depressed reading that. I never knew that Roosevelt Stadium was demolished last year. My dad used to always take me there to see the football games of his alma mater, Emerson HS. I also lived next to the Monastery and got to witness the huge fire in 1994.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockaway_Township%2C_NJ (Rockaway Twp, NJ) I went into culture shock living here. I thought I was in the fucking wilderness. Now, I realize that it's called suburbia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madison%2C_NJ (Madison, NJ) I spent about 1.5 years living there, just moving out this fall. Good restaurants and theatre company. Republican town, but with a few colleges in town, it's actually socially liberal. I still hang out there because there's nothing to do by me.

Two months ago, I moved back into Rockaway Twp, but into the middle-of-fucking-nowhere section. I'm surrounded by woods on three sides. Behind the house, they go back for like 10 miles or so.

To this very day, the swelling populace of Bumblefuck swarm against sting of discrimination. They are the sole reason why bestiality is not a crime in the fine state of Washington.

31. Summit Hill neighborhood, St Paul MN
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Paul%2C_Minnesota

Scroll down to the neighborhoods section, and look for #10:
or just read this:

Also called "Crocus Hill" by locals, the neighborhood is centered on Summit Avenue, the traditional home of the city's aristocracy, and the Saint Paul Cathedral, home of the Archdiocese of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. With its vista of downtown and the Mississippi River, it is among the poshest neighborhoods in the Twin Cities. It was home to artists as diverse as F. Scott Fitzgerald, Sinclair Lewis, August Wilson and, currently, Garrison Keillor.

I live a block away from where F. Scott Fitzgerald spent most of his boyhood, in an apartment building that was a girls school 100 years ago. Scott took dance lessons at the school when he was a boy.

With one language per thousand residents, the town has twenty-five times as many languages as London in proportion to population size, the most linguistically diverse city on the planet. If London had the same proportion of languages to population, every known language on the planet would be spoken there.
