The RetroLounge Daily Poem Thread (Sat 2/25/06)
And Day Brought Back My Night

It was so simple: you came back to me
And I was happy. Nothing seemed to matter
But that. That you had gone away from me
And lived for days with him — it didn't matter.
That I had been left to care for our old dog
And house alone — couldn't have mattered less!
On all this, you and I and our happy dog
Agreed. We slept. The world was worriless.

I woke in the morning, brimming with old joys
Till the fact-checker showed up, late, for work
And started in: Item: It's years, not days.
Item: you had no dog. Item: she isn't back,
In fact, she just remarried. And oh yes, item: you
Left her, remember?
I did? I did. (I do.)

than with fantasy. :hi:

13. A faint memory indeed...
Edited on Sat Feb-25-06 11:16 AM by RetroLounge
Two kids crawling into the bed at 7 am then jumping and wrestling and playing without regard for my extremities or privates. Kind of hard to sleep thru that...

But the joy of my kids offsets the lack of sleep...

15. You bet
My big kid wouldn't sleep because the Binkie Fairy was going to bring him a video game. He was so excited I couldn't help but laugh.

21. Ah, such a hopeful start to today's poem.......
And then the fact-checker......

And it ends with sorrow.......

At least for me it did.

I cannot read it aloud without tears, so I won't read it that way...

Still, it is lovely.......

It speaks to my longing......

:loveya:

24. My Dear CP
The Fact-Checker, reality, is what I face each morning. I wake up forgetting and within seconds, the fact checker shows up and reality says good morning.

So I welcome reality and walk thru it until night comes again...

But I find within my day are many pockets of joy and if I am not aware of the moments, I may miss them, so my challenge is to stay focused on the now-moment and not miss anything life tosses my way...

27. well thank you!
i live in a fantasy world -- i like to think all my love affairs are UNIQUE.

or that mark wasn't like steve who wasn't at all like leigh who had nothing in common with john and there's the incomparable brian, brian and brian... yes those last are three different persons -- though in a freudian world -- three in one?

there's many more {thank you jesus} but you get the idea.

29. Everyone is different, yes, and each has unique qualities
some we miss and some we are glad to be away from.

Melanie, Jeniffer, Sam, Beth, Denise, Judy... Ad nauseum...
