Job opening. Position: Project Staff Engineer. Grade: E4. S-10-05

Department: Advanced Technology Products

Job Function: Propose, plan and track projects that develop the next generation photovoltaic devices and photonic sensors for both space and terrestrial applications. Design these devices. Write proposals for, produce intellectual property for, and publish in these areas of technology. Coordinate project goals and activity with (company name) management, production, finance and marketing functions, keeping all supporting functions apprised of the project details and needs. Must have excellent communication skills and be willing to share knowledge, when possible, with colleagues performing similar functions.

Education Desired: M.S. or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, materials science, physical chemistry or related field is expected.

Experience Desired: 3 to 5 years of hands on experience in the design, fabrication, and reliability testing of III-V compound semiconductor photonic devices, preferably for multijunction solar cells. Practiced in managing project goals against available project funding. Previous publications in related technology are expected.

Knowledge Desired: Physics of compound semiconductor photonic/OE devices, space operating environment, computation/simulation of device performance, analysis of materials using techniques such as SIMS. SAM, ECV, CV, EDAX, metallurgical optical microscopy, AFM, etc. Basic understanding of cost estimation is desired.
