Good Friday Morning, Everyone!
:donut::hi:
Welcome to the Early Morning Crew for this Friday! :bounce: How the heck are ya? Everything is fine here at the Clintmax house, although I'm still trying to wake up. But I have some coffee now and I'll be fine here in a few minutes!

Here we are at Friday! Last work day of the week for a lot of us! :bounce: Do you have any big plans for the weekend? I hope so. Boring weekends are the worst. Who, me? Oh, I have to work the weekend this time. We have a huge floor move at my store so that's what I'll be doing. It's OK though, I love to see the store have a fresh, new look!

Are you ready to get this day started with me? Well grab some coffee, or some tea, have a seat, and let's get it started! :bounce:

2. Clintmax!!
I'll be working this weekend too, mostly because I was completely unmotivated for a couple of days this week, so I'll have to make up the time. But that's cool, because I work from home, so it's not such a big deal.

No coffee for me yet, though, as it's actually time for me to hit the hay.

My song for the day is "Boys of Summer", in honor of the start of spring training! :bounce:

I LOVE that song too! Perfect one for the start of spring! You work from home, huh? I didn't know that. That has to be great! I'd love to be able to do that...but I have no idea what I would do from home that would bring in as much money as I make now. Do you do internet stuff?

85. I'm a vocational rehab counselor
I deal with folks hurt on the job, try to determine if they are able to return to work in something they already know how to do. If they can't, then I write retraining plans for them.

I should be sleeping right now, which I was for a couple of hours, but I woke up, so what the hey, I have 10 reports to write, so might as well get to it!

I tried to get into county at least a little, and God help me, I failed miserably.

The only country song I like that they play on the radio is the one about gettin' a little mud on the tires. :D

I identify with it. :D

If you're a soil scientist, why do they want you to know plants to begin with? If they are adamant, maybe you need to take a few classes somewhere so you can learn a little about them.

45. For wetland delineations
Edited on Fri Feb-24-06 06:37 AM by XemaSab
there are three criteria that must be met in order to legally establish a wetland: soils, hydrology, and plants.

I've got a minor in watershed management, and I'm one class (Calc II) short of qualifying to be a hydrologist for the federal government.

I took a class in wetland soils in lieu of taking soil microbiology for my major requirement.

But, and here's the kicker, instead of taking plant taxonomy, I took dendrology (trees), because I was lazy. :P

So I'm totally qualified to determine 2 out of 3 legal criteria for a jurisdictional wetland.

Of course, all of this is moot if the supreme court strikes the "navigable waters" clause of the Army Corps jurisdiction, which they heard the other day. :scared:

19. Ahhhhhhh the organ really is the king of instruments.
This is fairly early stuff (late 17th early 18th century), my collection goes right through into the wonderful 20th century organ works from the French masters. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: It's one of the few things which really does get me excited.

Definitely no funereal connotations - although I do have the pieces I want played before and after my funeral.... L'Apparition de l'Eglise Eternelle by Olivier Messiaen, and Le Cinqieme Trompette from Cinq Meditations sur l'Apocalypse by Jean Langlais (both are 20th century pieces).

27. Very possibly.
The normally played at funeral is, tautologically, funereal. But that's only a tiny portion of the repertoire. I've probably got more organ music than any other instrument.

63. Oh yes.
I've got tons of vocal stuff too.

Rennaisance stuff is usually voices alone (a capella), I've got oodles of choral music (over 20 settings of the Mass, for example), opera as well. But if I'm trying to work, I find that voices distract me. I've got very few "songs" - the biggest group of classical music in song form are German lieder, for which I have a vehement and utterly irrational hatred (at least I admit it's irrational).

Forcing everything into song form is one reason I don't like pop music, it makes everything too narrow for my tates.

...One of them, a beautiful tortie, is about to drop a litter of them. She's already found a spot on my back porch, so I know I'll have no choice but to let her deliver them here. I'm kind of a nervous wreck trying to line up good homes for the kitties that will soon be here. She's a beautiful cat, and almost a "blond" tortie. I know her kittens will be beautiful, too. I'm already hitting up friends, telling them how much they need a cat...

Oh, well! I'll bust my buns to make sure they get a good home.

Get this...I actually have....are you sitting down? I have taken THE WEEKEND OFF!

Yes indeed, I have taken the weekend off.

Of course it's not all fun and games. I have a bunch of stuff to do around the house and several dump runs to make. However just having three whole days away from work (particularly from my weekend job) is enough to make me do cartwheels. Or at least I'd do them if I thought I could still do them without hurting myself or breaking things around me.

I've run out of stuff to do again. I'm going to have to go and invent work for myself. x(

47. Morning Clint!!
I loved the photos of the car. I got on-line too late to participate yesterday.

My car is going into the shop for an oil change and to have a rim ground down. There's all kinds of "stuff" that has collected over the years on the edges of these alloy wheels and the tire won't seal properly. Time to bring out the grinder and hopefully keep me from having yet another flat tire. :(

I've done my 40 hours already this week and have a 3-day weekend.

What are you up to?

I'm glad you liked the pictures! I LOVE my new car, let me just tell ya! They need stuff done to them from time to time though. That's just the nature of it.

I'm glad you have a three day weekend! :woohoo: Do you have any big plans for the days off? Me? i'm just hangin out here on DU until it's time to get ready for work.

Not really. I've got a trunkload of blankets and down spreads that need to be washed. The laundromat (to use the huge washers) is on he list. Then there's packing for the move in March. Also, tomorrow's my birthday, but everyone's busy. It'll probably be me, some wine and a sappy movie. I'm not looking forward to this birthday at all but when the alternative is considered, I'm okay. :)

Oh, and I have an interview for a full-time permanent job with GOOD BENEFITS on Monday. Keep your fingers crossed!

:hi:

On edit, it'll be wine, a movie and DU. :)

So, you're spiffing up the store? I suspect spring merchandise will be moved in. I'm still in the winter mode. The snow is still here so I plan on doing some x-country skiing again this weekend, but other than that, I've got nothing planning.

Yep, you got it! Spring merchandise coming in, old stuff going out! :woohoo: Cross country skiing sounds fun, but I've never done such a thing so I'd probably break my neck on my first try. I hope YOU have lots of fun though!

79. Oh, it's easy
Clint. I always say, if you can walk you can x-country ski.

It's like anything else. It can be an easy workout or a strenuous one. I typically take a backpack with a camera along. Have gotten some nice shots that way. It's very peaceful in the woods. A nice calming. Think that's why I like it so much.

But then, I like being outdoors.

I'm sure I could master it. Plus, I can see how it would be very peaceful. Taking a camera along is a GREAT idea, because I can imagine the pictures you could get that way! I like being outdoors too!
