Willie Nelson does reggae
Edited on Thu Feb-23-06 08:38 PM by GirlinContempt
Has anyone else heard this album?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009ML1Q6/104-9031459-0431949?v=glance&n=5174

I almost gouged my eardrums out with a hot butter knife. I'm for serious. It is THAT BAD.

How bad is it, really, you ask?

My Mum bought it when she and my Dad were driving to Sask.
She put it on, and my Dad yelled at her to turn it off. She didn't. So he then got it out of the CD player and wrestled with her, while driving at 100kmph, so he could toss it out the window.
He failed.
But it's THAT BAD.
You'll risk your life just to save the world from having to hear it again.

Holy crap.

24. i went to see him live on a lark once about 12 years ago
...and was blown away. I had always thought of him as a characature...but that was way underestimating him. He's a seriously talented musician and songwriter.

6. I felt that way about the book Cryptonomicon
Instead of Saskatchewan, I was in Alberta.

And instead of wrestling with the other person in the car, I was wrestling with myself about whether to suck it up and finish it or just leave it flapping by the side of the Tete au Jaune (sp?) highway.

It was really THAT bad.

11. Well...I've heard reggae covers of "On The Road Again" and
"To All The Girls I've Loved Before". They didn't do much better than ol' Willie apparently did with their genre.

It can't be as bad a Johnny Cash's cover of "Redemption Song." If it is......ouch

Willie and reggae artists do have something in common - major marijuana consumption. Maybe the problem is that you were listening to it sober. Smoke it up and then listen. It might be a work of genius then.

17. I refuse to listen to it.
Willie Nelson is one of the very few country and western musicians I can tolerate, and I'd rather not have my bubble burst like that.

19. I listened to the samples
fortunately, it's Willie singing reggae songs in country tempo. It's like Pat Boone's leather phase, something that they can say that they've done--and won't do again under penalty of the gods/listening public/good taste/general health and sanity/social propriety/peer pressure--etc.

Being a serious reggae fan, I don't think that the reggae world has much to worry about. :P

22. I think people who value their lives do, though
Have something to worry about that is. People with weak hearts could keel over.

25. BTW
I thought it was awful, too. But, I disagree about those with weak hearts will keel over. People with weak hearts will find that their hearts will strengthen--in order to get up, turn off the stereo, and throttle whoever played that CD.

Gave her some money to buy a new one

Gawd they suck, like a duet with Billy Corgan and 500 yowling cats

Enduring them through a huge outdoor concert was more emotionally painful than the gas chamber in bootcamp.

Try sitting through a :puke: PHISH concert, with morning sickness.
As if I wouldn't have wanted to puke, without the hormonal issues contributing.

Edited on Fri Feb-24-06 09:59 AM by LaraMN
My friends and I made some "movies" in high school, and used alot of Primus in the soundtrack. Someone still has the videos, and the last time they screened them, I ran out of the house, in horror. So.embarrassing.
