Are many married men hesitant to go to a masseuse?
I gave my husband a gift certificate for a massage a couple Christmases ago. He never redeemed it. He said that it would be weird to get a massage by another woman.
One of our friends did a temporary construction job. Part of his pay was a massage gift certificate. He didn't redeem it either. He said that his wife would be upset if he got one. He has done other things to upset his wife though without her knowing about it at the time.
Are a lot of married men hesitent to get a professional massage. Do they think that it is a form of cheating. Are they afraid that the business is actually a front for prostitution and that the masseause might offer something more than a massage, which they are afraid might be hard to resist if the woman gets naked after relaxing him?
DU wives, would you be upset if your husband got a professional massage?
DU husbands, would you be hesitant to get a professional massage?

1. Any man, woman or child that hesitates to get a massage
should get over it, find a really good professional massage therapist and get on the damned table.

Ahhhhhhh..... :)

3. They're blaming the wife, but it's really their own reactions
they're afraid of. Either poor body image makes them feel insecure,or they're afraid they'll get aroused.

22. DING-DING-DING! Mongo, you're the winner!
My husband won't go and won't tell me why.

He also won't get a pedicure! (He does like manicures, however.)

Too bad for him!

I love massages and manicures and pedicures!

In peace,

Radio_Lady

I felt relaxed afterwords and all, but it didn't feel like it was worth the expense.

6. You can keep your clothes on even.
Sounds like this guy already had issues. I massage lots of married men, professionally. Yes, I have massaged people with their clothes on as there are lots of types and ways of massage and the object is to relax muscles, not have to prove anything.

7. There is nothing like a professional massage
It is worth every penny.

However I am cheap and don't spring for one too often. (My ex-gf was a massage therapist. We would trade favors.)

I would hurt my neck or back in the past and want a real massage. I wouldn't go for fear of getting busted by vice.

9. Tell your husband to go! Make sure she puts a heavy blanket on top of him
the first time for when she flips him over to work on his arms and legs. LOL!

Massages are great, especially if you can plan itlate on Friday after a hard week's work.

There's something else that I like getting just as much as a massage and that's reflexology to my feet. I think I might even like that better. If he won't do the massage, get him a session of reflexology with someone who specializes in that.

I think it's great. My wife encourages me to go but says she won't let anyone touch her. Besides me of course.

15. Well,the picture is from a New Yorker photoshoot...the Wellness
Program...is part of a preventive medicine (very European) Clinic, whereby employees and spouses can get massages (5 different types) from Certified Massage Therapists at the Wellness Cottage.

I like the Reflexology Deep Tissue. Hurts a bit....but oh,the release.

My favorite show, and my favorite, fabulous, fashionista!

IMHO, she has the best figure EVER. Others might prefer a fleshier woman, but to me, she's AWESOME.

I asked him what it was like" to roll aound in sheets with Sarah all those years"?

He said, with the patented, "Big" eyebrows- "Whatta you think"

I once gave my ex a birthday gift certificate for a half-day at the spa — massage, manicure, pedicure, facial (oh, hush)...

I'd rather have a short and bad massage from an S.O. than a long, thorough professional massage from a total stranger. *shrug*

20. I think some are afraid THEY will get aroused.
And often, they do. It really cannot be helped sometimes. And, there IS a woman in my town who actually DOES perform "massage with release" - a coworker of mine found that out quite by surprise one day.

Massages ARE intimate. I, as a married woman, would not feel comfortable going to a male masseuse. I do have a female I go see (not the "release woman"!) but it took me a while to feel comfortable with it, and I always wear shorts under the drape. I have chronic back pain, so it really helps, but honestly, I still feel weird about it.

Most men I know who have gone to a female masseuse have admitted to getting aroused.

23. I love massages!!
Always get them from masseuses, and I have never once been aroused (even from a few that were EXCEPTIONALLY attractive). Seriously, I don't understand why you would. You're not being touched sensually at all - you're getting giant knots pushed out of your back.

25. My wife and I go to the same masseusse
so it is not a problem for us. The masseusses we go to are professionals. I'm sure they are aware of the fact that many men experience an involuntary tumescence during massage, and they deal with it.

So they figure it's safer for them to just avoid the issue altogether.

35. My husband gets a massage frequently
Most the men in our office do, also. We give gift certificates for a massage for holiday presents. I think it's just a lack of familiarity and confusion about what it's like. It seems weird or sexual until you actually have one. I'm not bothered at all that he has massages. In no way am I as skilled as a professional masseuse when I give massages.

37. The ones that are fronts for prostitution
are likely to be pretty skittish about law enforcement everywhere these days so its pretty unrealistic to be expecting unsolicited "extras", especially if its your first visit

So I really doubt thats any man's hangup regarding massages

39. The only benefit to being in a car wreck: massage therapy
We were in a fairly serious car wreck 13 years ago. I went to a male massage therapist on recommendation from my PT doc. I never felt a moment's discomfort or worry with him.

DH and I see the same female massage therapist now. She's the greatest. She's a Democrat, so I spend most of my time on her table talking with her about politics!
