Persian food ROCKS
Nini took me to one of her favorite places in L.A., near where she used to work until last year. A fantastic little joint called Pars. She had the Shish Kabob and I had the Lamb Paredhe, a New Zealand rack of lamb to die for, both dishes serves wih saffron-infused rice. Not a hint of gaminess in the lamb either. Nini loathes lamb, but when she tried a bite she even admitted it was good. (I love lamb, but will admit that it can be really bad at times - especially American lamb).

The hummus appetizer was orgasmic, and of course, it isn't Persian food without the raw onion served with the bread. :9

I love. Persian. Food. How about you?

2. Absolutely
Most places where I've lived have had to call themselves Greek or Mediterranean restaurants to cater to the close-minded. I think its the most appetizing way to eat vegetarian.

Quoth Nini. ;-)

It was BEAUTIFUL in L.A. today. Some rain cleared the air completely overnight, and the skyline was crystal clear from great distances. The rain clouds over the mountains are expected to dust about 7 inches of snow on them tonight.

It was a brisk 55 today! :scared: :hi: :D :loveya:

6. Hey AM!
If you love garlic, paprika, and tender, well-seasoned meat, saffron rice, and grilled veggies, you would love it!

The waiter was a hoot. The Iranian people love to party and are very gracious hosts. I worry about what the American Morons of Middle America will do if we go to war with their mother country, that is, if they ever figure out Iran was once Persia. :hi:

When they serve the flat bread, they provide a plate with butter and a raw onion. :9 The Iranians value the health benefits of eating raw onions every day. :D

Anthropologists classify Middle Easterners as caucasian.

16. AAARGH! Get away from me!!! You are the antichrist!
LOL.

In my small rural hometown, we just got our first Mexican restaurant a year ago (and it sucks so badly, compared to the ones in Texas). But a Persian restaurant? I can't even imagine one being here--or even in the large university city in which I work. The good Republican Baptists just wouldn't like that.

Only godless commies eat at those Persian Saddam Osama restaurants, and that's why we'll never get one here in the rhinestone on the buckle of the bible belt.

;-) :hi:

19. snarf!
Oh, I know! Which is why urban living has its upside... yeah, we have sprawl, traffic, crime, and other problems, but when you balance that out with the diversity of food, art, and music, it makes it worthwhile.

Of course, there is something to be said for holing up in the woods in a cabin too, but that is what retirement is for. :D

When I was a travel consultant, a Lebanese client used to bring these to me at my office. This was during the siege of Beirut, and the dear littlke man was trying desperately to get his 90 yr old Mom out.. Every few days he would stop in and have me check on the possibilities.. When I left the agency and moved, he was still trying..

anyway, he always felt guilty "wasting my time", so he would come in with a paper bag of these for the whole office to munch on..
I don;t know what was in them, but they tasted sooooo good .

edit..found a recipe:

42. The Iranian food in the UAE is fabulous
and you can get the good stuff cheap, too. Last Ramadan the university I live on had an Iranian restaurant come on campus to serve food for iftar, and I went at least twice a week to get it. I loved the Harissa and the duck, and other dishes I don't know the name of. For about six dollars you could get your fill of the stuff, with dessert and a drink included.

It's a good reason for this non=Muslim to look forward to Ramadan this year!
