No clothing choice is totally meaningless in my view. I think if a guy wears a Speedo to the beach, it has some sort of meaning, for example. People may draw the -wrong- conclusions, but there's always some gap between intent and interpretation. For example you could show Jews some ancient Vedic artifact and they could read it as anti-semitic.
