Last three movies you've watched that you've never seen before
Today I' am incredibly bored and have spent the last few hours rummaging around the DU. Decided to ask another vapid and empty question which popped into my head last night....

What are the last three movies you've watched that you had never seen before?

Me:
Primary Colors- Watched it last night. Couldn't decide if I loved or hated it, but I sure as heck kept watching it until the very end. Still has me a bit...shaken.

Two Towers- I was out of commission during it's theatrical run and a friend brought over a copy he had "somehow" got from the internet.

Star Wars, The Clone Wars- Ugh! Went over to a pal's last week as he was just putting the tape in. Maybe I've gotten too old, but none of the Star Wars movies seem to have that same sense of accesibility and innocent heroism that the (very) first Star Wars film had.

2. Last three?
I tend to watch the same films (my favorites) multiple times, so these three have been widely separated by viewing time (like, months). See if I can rememember 'em:

1. "Bad Boys" - pretty good.....well, could've been worse

2. "Blade" - cool!

3. "Blade II" - even more cool!

And, oh boy........Leonor Varela from "Blade II"

(don't look, Salma)

3. Sex & Lucia
The Hours
Adaptation

I'm on a winning streak...that's not a title, it's my assessment of those three (in between I revisited Don't Look Now, a perennial on my list of favorites)

Very good for the genre. Kept me guessing, and I saw the one with the alternative ending after the credits, which was better (more true to the movie) than the theatrical ending.

Highlight the spoilage to get the altervate ending:

Begin Spoilage--------------------
Original ending, he gets shot in the stomach, but all 3 survive in a cottage, and they succeed in signaling a plane from Europe.

Alt ending, he gets shot in the stomach, they get him to an abandoned hospital, try to save him but can't. The two girls walk away.

End Spoilage---------------------

7. Gangs of New York.
Bought the DVD for $12 at the flea market on a lark. Fantastic movie!

Phone Booth...Very intense and VERY short (about 75 minutes), but reminded me why Hitchcock started his own genre.

Twenty Bucks...Decent "pulp fiction/short cuts" type flick which follows a $20 bill around and peers into the lives of people that temprarily own it.

Another one, but not a real movie, just one of THOSE videos is "The Hole". People watch a videotape of flickering images on the screen, and the phone rings. The voice on the other end of the line says..."In one week, you'll be gay!" then hangs up. Most guys can't wait a week to get it on with each other though.

10. Amelie, Talk to Her & Adaptation
Amelie is fantastic, one of the best I've seen recently.

Talk to Her was also very good if a slow burn.

Adaptation sucked. Who writes this stuff? And, yes, I "got" the deconstructionist metaphor...

14. I had to watch Momento three times lately to see the whole thing
I saw the last part first and the middle part last. Eventually, I saw all three parts. Except the beginning. Or the end. I can't remember.

Can someone tell me what I missed?

18. You can program your DVD player to...
play the whole thing chronologically, or "timeline forward". There used to be a site that showed you how to do it, but this is all I can find which is built in as an easter egg...

http://www.dvdeastereggs.com/showEgg.php?eggid=734&grabEggs=m

This is on the fancy-schmancy $25 version, not the basic $15 DVD.

15. Gangs of New York, Final Destination 2, Phone Booth
All three were worth watching but FD2 was surprisingly good. I hated the first one but took the chance the second couldn't be so bad. There's an amazing highway accident setpiece at the beginning.

16. I can't remember the last one, which
just goes to show how many movies I watch. I know I bought a movie on pay per view recently; I'll have to wait 'til the bill comes to remember it.

I've been to the movies 3 times in the last year. I saw HP2, LOTR2, and A Mighty Wind.

I think there were some movies out there I was interested in seeing, but I can't remember what they are, except for the pirates thing. I normally don't care for movies, cartoons, etc. based on corporate products, but I've been told over and over that it's worth seeing. I'll take my mom next month; she doesn't care much for action/adventure stuff, but she's a huge Johnny Depp fan.

20. "Bugsy" just last night...
I had never seen that even though I am a movie ho. It was better than I thought it would be -- great visual style, interesting storyline.

I also just watched a Spanish film called "Mouth to Mouth" with Javier Bardem. He plays an actor working a sex phone line who gets involved with the wife of a male client. DAMN that man in fine! He has this scene were he does his first big call with a guy, he's talking in this beautiful, sexy voice and I just about fainted.

Saw "The Farmer's Wife" for the first time recently -- great movie, very imspiring -- especially during these times. Loretta Young has this amazing speech about how the politicians should be working for the people -- I think the folks on The Hill need to have a copy of it sent to tem as a reminder.

21. me
Pirates of the Carribean - I thought it was very good. I like pirate movies. I like Johnny Depp.

The Hulk - it was ok. I didn't like any of the Nick Nolte parts (any scene he wa sin, and that whole part of the story.) though I typically like Nick Nolte.

The Italina Job - I thought it was very good. I would have seen it sooner if I had known it had Edward Norton.

Ken - who has no tv, and so rents no videos.

22. Last 3
1) Pirates of the Caribbean- Pretty good; much better than you'd expect from a movie based on a theme park ride!

2) How to Deal- Liked more than I thought; it's hard not to like someone as prissy as Mandy Moore.

3) The Hulk- decent; I know nothing about the comic book, but the movie was entertaining. I guess it didn't do as well as expected...

(I see more movies I wouldn't necessarily see normally since I work at a movie theatre now...)

24. I've been on a movie frenzy
Gangs of New York -- Daniel Day Lewis and the sets were great. Very interesting slice of 19th century New York life. Everything else was pretty stupid.

Fire Walk With Me -- I'm a Lynch fan, but had held out on this one until finishing the Twin Peaks DVD's. Better than I expected, but seemed to have some disconnected threads (well, duh! it's Lynch) and seemed to lose steam part way through.

The Ring -- creepy little number. Get this, when the movie ended, I ejected the DVD and turned off the TV, but the TV stayed on! It had this ghosty reception of channel 3 due to some unknown reason. Scared the hell out of me. Seriously. Channel 3 here is the WB Network and I thought for a minute or two one of the Wayans brothers was going to crawl through the screen and scare me to death.
