Why do some folks have to schlepp those big Nalgene bottles everywhere?
Staff meetings, cubicles, etc. Wherever they go, so go their bottles.

You're sitting there in a meeting, trying to pay attention, when out comes this:

Look, dickwad, this isn't an expedition to Everest. You can leave the camping gear at home.

I have a colleague who takes this GIGANTIC one to every meeting we have. The meetings usually last about an hour. Guess how many times he drinks from his Big Ass Nalgene (BAN)? An average of THREE TIMES. Yes, I have averaged this. The meetings are boring. I count his sips.

15. Because I'm supposed to drink more than 64 oz of water to help
with a medical condition and having a clean, unbreakable, environmentally friendly bottle with me at all times helps me do that?

But gee, thanks for assuming that I'm a dickwad who thinks I'm going on an expedition. What the hell skin is it off your nose anyway? Does the bottle make a loud noise? Does it get in the way of seeing your powerpoint presentation? What's wrong with your concentration abilities if someone's water bottle can distract your attention away at a meeting?

62. Diets? Your body requires you to drink that much. Did you know....
an estimated 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated? If you get the afternoon drowsies it's more likely to be dehydration than lack of proper sleep or a "sugar crash." It's a leading cause of chronic low grade headaches. Unfortunately, thirst is not the first symptom of dehydration. Fatigue and headache are.

60. natural home magazine says you're wrong
they recommended against nalgene

if you're gonna drink it, it should be in a glass container

i don't know if natural home is online but here's an online quote--

Nalgene Lexan (polycarbonate) bottles, used in the recreation / outdoor containers were recently found to leech bisphenol, which research has shown has an adverse effect on prostate development, tumors, breast tissue development, sperm count and enlargement of fat cells in the body. Scientists have warned against allowing any polycarbonate plastics near your food or water and stated the devastating effects of these chemicals posed the biggest risk to babies during early development.

I'm not talking about people with medical conditions here.

I'm talking about the need to have a water bottle with you EVERYWHERE. In the bathroom. On a car ride to the McDonald's a mile away. At a funeral.

It doesn't bug me at a work meeting, though -- I bring coffee to those, so I'm not one to judge.
