Every athlete has a story about how it was hard to get there, many of the ones they do are pretty much the same. Show me a couple of TRULY interesting ones (like the skater who was dropped on her face) and it'd be OK.
Another example of the difference between the sexes for the Olympics:
Last night we were watching the downhill and she was into it and so was I. She looked at me and said "Boy they really look good in those tight little outfits don't they? What were you thinking?" And I said "I was hoping someone would crash and break a bone". :D
If someone really does something special, give me the story - but don't do it for every goddamned athlete that pops up on my screen. It's just personal preference, but I don't want to waste the time until I know someone is going to finish higher than tenth. To watch a long story and start to root for someone who's eventually bounced out in the first round is awfully annoying.
