How come "everybody else" always gets to go on vacation??

:shrug: I'm not kidding, my last vacation was to Saginaw...sigh....

1. For years, we only could afford weekend road trips

Stayed at Motel 6, ate mostly fast food, enjoyed the hell out of those trips.

Now I have enough points saved up through work travel to get free airfare and hotel, but still have fond memories of those early trips to places like Baltimore, Gettysburg, Atitium, Appomatox, Richmond, etc. Or when things were really tough (both of us unemployed at the same time) to my friend's beach house.

Of course, living on the East Coast is a plus -- things are a lot closer together.

2. Do like me and Mrs. DaveTheWave do

Instead of going on a vacation once or twice every year, we save up and go on a nice one every two years. Last year we didn't make it though, other priorities so it will be another two years now.

3. What makes me mad is that everybody else, cost be DAMNED . . .

manage to go to Vegas, The Bahamas, Florida, etc., while I get to do stupid things like pay bills and put food on the table. Topped off with the fact that vacations are getting too damned expensive, especially when there's three of us. The most I do is go to DC to visit my sister. $80 flight (which is actually cheaper than the drive there), stay at her house, take the Metro from Silver Spring, that's it. Anywhere else would cost a pile. Disneyworld would take me at least two years to save for.
