SPOILER: First Winter Olympic medal awarded

President George W. Bush declared his wife, Laura, the winner of the ladies figure skating event this evening. "She always wanted a purty medal, and what we want, we get, heh heh heh! Heh heh heh!" He decided on the figure skating event after Chief-of-staff Andy Card suggested she not drive a bobsled.

A judge, who spoke to the media confidentially, was mystified. "I placed her last! Every judge placed her last!" But the new electronic voting system somehow came up with Mrs. Bush as the winner.

Although she did not complete any jumps, her ability to spin was notable. Her long program, skated to the soundtrack from "A Beautiful Mind", was adjudicated to be serene and dream-like by the American press. The international judges, however, said she seemed almost sedated.

The medal will be prominently displayed at the Bush "Ranch" until she gets bored with it.
