sadly, she is quite religious. reminds me often that I need to work on getting into heaven. :-( but she loves me, and she's my mom, so I just smile and change the subject.

which is weight gain, she struggles constantly and doesn't think she is beautiful anymore. She pines for days gone by. I think she's gorgeous.

I just keep encouraging her to get healthy. In the last 5 years she really gave in to the weight, and eats poorly, often, and in large quantities, and she NEVER excercises. I tell her I could care less what she weighs- but I do care if she has a heart attack. I took care of her for a couple of weeks in Dec. (long story) and she could barely walk a block without getting winded. A far cry from the athletic woman I knew growing up.

a lot of it boils down to depression and isolation, but she's working on it.
