1. I've been getting into a lot of jazz-rock lately, MrScorpio.
Have you heard "Tribute to Jack Johnson"?

Fun fact about the first track on that album (two tracks total/25 minutes each): Herbie Hancock plays the organ on it, but wasn't even supposed to be there in the first place.

Apparently, he had dropped by the studio, groceries in hand, to show Miles a copy of his own latest album. Miles noticed the organ in the corner (a type Herbie had never played) and told Herbie to play.

Herbie kept shaking his head until Miles yelled "Play!", so Herbie sat down at the organ. He was trying to figure out how to play the damn thing, and the first notes you hear from him (at the 15-minute mark of the first track) sound discordant, but those are the notes he produced when fiddling around with it. Eventually, he gets into the groove and has an amazing solo.

He then stuck around for the next track and left promptly, groceries in hand, when it was all over. True story. :)

EDIT: Let me know how you like it after you hear it.
