Winter is finally coming to Connecticut! (And how.)
Mrs R was at the grocery store this afternoon, and it was a madhouse. We (believe it or not) pay almost zero attention to the weather forecast, so it was news to us that we're under a blizzard warning for tomorrow night. And for a change of pace, we along the shoreline are going to get hammered worse than the people inland.

Doesn't worry me any if the electricity goes out; we have the propane firelogs for heat, the Aladdin lamps for light, a gas range to cook on, plenty of chow, sufficient booze, and I'll have Powerbooks charged up. And I can even come to DU on a modem, as long as the phone lines stay up.

Oh, wait a minute; I only have two books left that I haven't read. Gotta get to the library early tomorrow!

1. Good for you! Where are you located at?
Hubby and I are ensconced in Westville,a section of New Haven. We have plans to go to "Cosi Fan Tutti" as presented by the Yale Opera tomorrow night after having a lovely dinner at Quattro's in New Haven. Who knows what will happen?

2. I know Westville; I used to work at 1475 Whalley Avenue before
they tore the building down and turned it into stores.

Were you living there when the Mexican restaurant Chavoya's was in business? I haven't had Mexican food as good as theirs since...sigh. Ah, but at least you're right near the 500 Blake Street Sunday Brunch!

We're in Old Saybrook. The Big Weather is not supposed to get here until well into the night (as of a few hours ago), so enjoy your evening!

3. Spouse and I loved Chavoya's!
Not too far from our house. We are only 3 blocks away from the Yale Golf Course.

I love the SE coast of CT. I love the towns there. I had a great vacation years ago in Old Saybrook. What a nice place!

4. Well, watch the Lounge during the summer; we're hoping to have
a DU BBQ at the house this year, and will post an invite here if we do. Being so close by, you and Spouse will be expected.

5. Thanks, I will look for the posting!
Hope it isn't when we are away in Wisconsin in late August.

6. I love how the weather people keep hedging
Edited on Sat Feb-11-06 09:35 AM by NewJeffCT
Well, if the storm veers off its track slightly, it could mean more or less snow than the 6-12" forecast... so, basically they are covered for snowfall between 0 and 18 inches now.

I've known since I was a child (I'm 39 now) that you usually take what they forecast & divide by 2 and it's a pretty safe bet. Not often they score right on the money with snow, as they like to scare people and get them all worked up about that week's "Storm of the Century"

8. We usually get hammered here in Danbury
but it looks like it won't be too bad this time - maybe 8 to 10. My sister in law in Essex, and my parents out near the Cape will get the brunt. Did my shopping yesterday too - not more than 10 other customers in the store. Won't be leaving the house after 3:00 today!!
