19. I just read that she was defending it
because she felt threatened by paparazzi. :eyes:

Really, so let the bodyguard drive you complete POS, hop in the back seat and before the car has pulled away from the curb, you have him in his car seat.

a child carrier seat. But she'd probably keep it in the front if she had one.

5. In CA this is against the law, as it is in ALL 50 states
http://www.iihs.org/laws/state_laws/restrain.html

These pictures alone would have her investigated, if not fined and/or arrested depending upon the law in the state in which she was driving. Am assuming those photos were taken in CA...Big No-No, Britney!

How fucking self-centered, selfish and arrogant! It's apparently more about her rather than her baby. My son was born in '78. Even back then there was no way I would have not had him in a car seat, and totally enforced the wearing of a seatbelt when he was older. Used to tell him the car wouldn't start because his seatbelt wasn't on. Worked every time.

6. Of all the crimes going on in the world this has to be the worst
:sarcasm: Have we nothing better to worry about. Most of us grew up with no car seats. We lived.

20. Sorry. There are WAY more cars on the road
than when we were growing up.

My mom didn't even have a car until I was five.

22. We lived, plenty didn't
When I was a kid, another neighbor kid was terribly injured in a car accident when he was thrown from the back seat through the windshield and into the road, landing on his head. He was about 9 at the time and suffered severe brain damage. It wasn't a major accident - had he been wearing a seatbelt, he probably would have been fine. A friend of my mother's lost her baby who was only a couple of months old when their car rolled. Would she have lived if she'd been in a carseat? I don't know but I suspect she would have.

I'm always bemused by these types of remarks - is it better if we just let our kids run loose and take their chances? I don't advocate tying kids up to keep them safe but since child restraints have been proven time and again to save lives (and since their legally required in most, if not all, states) why not use them?

7. Let me analyze this.

The other dude (probably her bodyguard) doesn't have a license or likes kids.

Britney really wants to drive the Navigator and doesn't want to leave the baby strapped in a child seat all by himself/herself.

She is a real idiot and this is the same as MJ holding his baby outside the window. Maybe worse because MJ only had one opportunity to drop the baby, every motorist in Britney's vicinity, and Britney herself, is a potential accident.

I hate seeing kids not buckled up. In California, I'm sure the parents/guardians can be charged if the baby or kid gets injured or killed, regardless of fault.

18. UPDATE: "LA County Department of Children and Family Services...
...has contacted the LA County Sheriff's Department in regards to the pictures showing Britney Spears driving with her baby on her lap without proper child restraint. But, apparently, none of this was Britney's fault. It was all someone else's fault. Quoth Britney:

"I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger. I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way..."

So, to protect the baby from danger, Britney put the baby in danger. The baby will still be in mortal peril, but on Britney's terms. See. Get it. Feel kinda bad for making fun of her before you knew the facts, don't you. Quite honestly, I'm amazed she didn't give the baby a gun and point him toward the photographer's car. "Aim fo' the tires, littl'in, just like them Duke boys. YEEEEE-HAWWWWW!"

She probably thinks the first one doesn't look good enough.

Just like how, at the supermarket, I overlook the bottles of milk that have little dimples on them and go for the perfect smooth ones. Just like how any milknazi would do it.
