I'm Sick of "The Dark"....Post A Compliment You've Had Recently!
Edited on Mon Feb-06-06 06:32 PM by WritingIsMyReligion
In the spirit of lifting any "downers" out of the mud, and lighting a candle in others' dark days, let's have a cheery little thread right now...

Post here a good compliment someone gave you within the last week or two, or maybe something friendly you said to another. Reading about others' good fortunes helps to remind me, at least, of my own, and keeps it in my head that there is good in humanity...

If you can't remember a compliment someone gave you, speak up, and I'll say something friendly!

I'll start: Today my piano teacher said I was a real natural at "the ivories", and I had talent that would brighten many a weary day of mine and others, and even possibly take me places. I'm not really looking into being a professional musician, but day-um, I adore the piano so much that I'm glad to know there's a "reason," so to speak, that I do. He made my whole afternoon....

:bounce::bounce:

Now, the rest of you please chime in...

;) :D ;) :grouphug:

On Edit: A writer with typos...What kind of writer is that?????? :D :P ;)

2. I cannot post it
as it would violate the "no sex threads" rule.

And BTW, Kid — a writer with typos is... a writer.

That's why Dog created editors.

3. I'll play!
I had a nice compliment just today. I work the wine and liquor section of a grocery store and a customer told me today that she goes out of her way to shop at my store solely because my department is always so well stocked and she knows she can always get what she wants there. It was nice because for one thing, she wasn't a customer I recognized as someone I've chatted a lot with before so it was quite spontaneous and also because it's just nice to have one's customers recognize how much you put into the job. Most people don't really think too much about it for the most part (unless they can't find what they want, then they complain loudly). And even if they do think about it, they rarely tell you (if you ever want to do a good deed, compliment a retail worker on the job they're doing - we almost never hear it and it's very nice).

4. I stopped at the bank to cash a check
before heading to the DMV to renew my license. The girl innocently asked how old I was going to be on my birthday. I told her. Her jaw dropped. I said "thank you, I needed that!"

45 this month! :wow:

I try not to be or dress alot younger than I am, but I'm not conventional and I've covered ALL my gray hair.

:hi:

BTW, how old are you? You impress me so much.

5. Ok...
I started writing recently...creative, just for fun. I wasn't going to let anyone look at it, but I mentioned it to one of my friends. Now, this friend happens to have a degree in screenwriting and is a fabulous writer, so when she asked to see it I was really hesitant. Long story short, I agreed to let her read it.

She had some fabulous constructive criticism, but she said that she really enjoyed one of the characters and thought that I had developed her very well. From a writer, to a non-writer...that really made my day. :)

12. Doesn't it, though?
Only one person--an ex-teacher of mine whom I totally adore--has really seen my writing, and she was rapturous about it, which in turn made me rapturous. :D :D I guess she knows some of what she is talking about, being an honors literature teacher and all... :D

6. I remember it crystal clear.
Before I left last night's Super Bowl party, I recieved three compliments. No details though, I'm sorry. I don't know if they're something I can describe, or if I have license to describe.

That has to be a wonderful feeling, recieving such validation and encouragement from your teacher - congrats!
:D

9. Well, nothing for me - but someone did tell me my dog had a 'noble face.'
Edited on Mon Feb-06-06 06:54 PM by qnr
That's one thing that has always confused me. Just what do I say when someone tells me I have beautiful dogs? "Um... thanks! I just built them 30 minutes ago."

Edit: Strange thing about it, someone told my wife the same about him, years ago.

:D :D

I guess it's pretty funny, though....
