Who's better, Jon Stewart or Steven Colbert?

I almost can't decide, because they're both funny.

I don't think you can make the comparison. Both are equally funny.

He's hilarious but Stewart has more range.

6. Did you see last night's ep?

He and David Cross were going back and forth and he just channeled his inner O'Reilly and just did a tremendous spoof of the Jeremy Glick interview. He had the "cut his mike" down cold. I felt like a real dork knowing the particular incident he was parodying but it just made it funnier for me.

Colbert rocks!

I mean, in a good way, but he's SO PERFECTLY SPOT ON with what he does, it's brilliant but it's also frightening, a little. I mean, sometimes he actually makes me believe his character is for real. :D

But yeah, I love that show. He is so damn funny!

That Mike thing was hilarious. So real. Realer than real.

Stewart funnier. His jokes are clearer. Takes less work. And his impressions are amazing.

Two very different trips. You can kick back and relax at the Daily Show. You have to be on your toes with Colbert.

There's only so much you can do with that schtick. Stewart doesn't base his performances on a particular bit, so he naturally has more options in what he can do, and hence "more range."

Colbert is at the tip-top of my favorite current comedian/writer/actor list. Has been since "Strangers With Candy."

Since the "Réport" started up, I haven't watched TDS as much.

But as far as shows go, The Colbert Report is outdoing the The Daily Show on a nightly basis. The level of humor, thought, and even continuity put into this parody talk show format is maddening. It's almost like Arrested Development as far as subtle jokes and callbacks go.

I feel like The Daily Show has been spinning its wheels ever since Colbert left.

...but Colbert is consistently creative, relevant and hilarious with a schtick I'd first viewed dubiously. It's not that he wasn't always funny; I just refused to believe that he could pull it off for more than a few weeks.

It's hard to decide who's better. I just thank the Goddess that I don't have to.

Jon is the better journalist - even if he calls himself a fake one. He has more integrity than all of the network 'journalists' combined. Plus, he has the only really accurate Bush impression.

Colbert is the better actor. Notice lack of Death to Smoochy on his resume. :) His character (and notice how he always calls it a character in the interviews) is so right-wing that the show is left. I love how it mocks the Right. The details are so good - especially the "I don't read" and stupid fear of bears. :)

Overall, TDS is the better show. However, I agree with others that the new guys rot. Nate Corrdry's brother is okay, but the rest are really lame. Where is Ed Helms? Samantha Bee? Whatever happened to Mo Rocca?

The Colbert Report is 100% laughs, but the Daily Show with Jon Stewart is much more enlightening.

In a broad sense, Jon provides a source of news and focuses on truly important issues - along with satire.

Colbert is brilliant at what he does, but he isn't as educational as Jon Stewart.
